Well, it all depends on your pocket book. Really, how I would look at it is this way....there is a difference of $ 204 a year that you are spending more if you go with the 90/10 plan. However, when it comes right down to your co-pays and such, this might actually be more beneficial to you. I mean, if you two are a young enough couple and dont go to the doctors too often, well then you might consider the 80/20 plan. They are both kind of high but if those are the options to pick from, those are the options. I have an 80/20 plan myself at work. I work for the Government but I am single now. My plan does not offer me dental or vision unless I pay for it and I cant afford it right now. I'm assuming your plan is an HMO plan. I dont know what type of HMO you have and believe me, there are several variations out there. I would be concerned to know which one and what exactly it covers. The reason this is important is b/c what if you are considering having a baby. You want a plan that is going to give you the most coverage. Keep in mind, I dont know your age or living situation so I am just throwing this out as something to think about. I personally would sit down with your hubby and go over your budget, if you have one and see what exactly can you afford each month. $ 204 is not all that much a year but over the course of time it can add up. But if you are not running to the doctors all the time or having surgery after surgery then I cant see why you couldnt be fine enough with the 80-20 plan. Afterall, with the 80/20 plan the extra money you can have you can put towards a rainy day fund or something else. Last note, you can always change your plan next year if you are not happy with the one you choose now. Nothing is permanent so thats something else to consider. Good luck to you both.

We pay 126 per week for health, medical, dental on a family of 3 on a 90/10 plan. The pricing looks about average. Do they offer dental and eye coverage through the company at an additional cost?

We signed up for a health care discount plan and its been helping us out a ton. It would even save you money on the vision and dental that you can't get covered - as well as prescriptions.

I guess if I were you, I'd weigh how much we spend on average in a year. If you have chronic medical conditions (we do in our family) the 90/10 is probably the best bet. If you generally just see the dr. for yearly check ups - then that may be the best for you.

That sounds very high. My employer pays 85% of my health care premium, which includes medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, and that's about 100$ out of my pocket for the entire month. You're being hosed.

Thinking about it, probably what's happening is you're not included in the 80/20. (Unless what you're talking about is the insurance company pays 80%, you pay 20% for medical procedures) That means your husband has to pay your entire premium. Which, on average, is almost 500$ a month. So it's making more sense now. Usually, when you're married, they also cover the spouce under 80/20, and it seems like they're not doing that.

What's your deductible with each plan? at 93.00 a week, that's almost $4500 a year, which seems high to me (I am an office manager in a medical office, I work with insurance every day) Look around at private plans and compare, I bet you can find a better deal else where.

I'd go with the 90/10..its not much more cost..but the ammount seems a bit high to me, we pay about 150 a month for ours thru my husbands job..its Aetna, not the top but so far its not terrible and we have dental and eye included. Good Luck

hmmm, that's not a bad rate. Does it include maternity? a good question to ask in the event of pregnancy. I'd personally go with the 90/10 plan. What's your family deductible for the year? Compare the plans.. I'm an insurance agent licensed in p & c and life insurance... but I'm always looking over my insureds health insurance too. Call your agent and get some advice from him/her.

This does kinda sound high. but how many family member are there and are there any pre-existing conditions. The price all just depends on that. Like how many meds you guys are on. But 93 a weeks is alot. but 80/20 is pretty good. but you do have to consider how much it would cost in one month if you did not have insurance. But if it is just you and him, that is kinda high... But you do have to remember insurance is high anymore! Good luck

its a lot higher than what health care should be. it sounds like his employer is not paying any share.

for that amount of money, i would go to Kaiser Permanente. less out of pocket fees!

good luck
