Don't get me wrong, I'm against it - I know it's unpleasant for women and people shouldn't be forced to have sex against their will, but people make me do unpleasant things against my will every day, like taking out the garbage and going to work, and nobody's going to prison for that. What's the deal?

You are an idiot, pure and simple. OK, if it OK to rape someone because you have to do unpleasant things, we should send your A** to jail and let some 300 pound guy with tattoos bend you over and rape you and let you see how it feels to be violated. People don't force you to take out the garbage and go to work, you make the choice to do that. If you don't take out the garbage, what's the worst thing that could happen? They're not going to kill you!!!! If you don't go to work, you could lose your job, big deal, go and get another one. You have a choice, and you have the control to make that choice.
It's not about the sex. It's about the degredation, taking away the choice, no power in the situation.
It's not just a physical attack - but also mental. It's emblazoned on your mind forever. You can never feel safe again because your power has been taken away.
History shows that men have been raped too. Also, same sex rape takes place.
How can you even ask this question? What kind of a human being are you? Don't you understand empathy? This is an emotion that people start to comprehend at about 6 or 7 years of age. If you don't get it, you couldn't have any true friends, and you need to see a psychiatrist FAST.

Maybe your not looking at this the right way. I think you are a guy or a lesbian. Anyway. Imagine you are out for a jog and you live near a prison. 3 huge Afro American prisoners have escaped. Suddenly they attack you with a weapon and threaten to kill you and they often do. Usually after hours of torture. Anyway back to the little unpleasant task of being brutally raped. So Each of them take turns raping you anally or orally or any way they like. Are you serious? You're comparing being raped to taking out garbage and working? Taking out garbage and working are things you just need to do in life to get by. How would you survive if you didn't work? What would you do if your garbage just piled up in your house and you got sick from the stench? When a woman is raped, she is changed forever knowing that some man shared an intimate moment with her without her consent. Then, what is wrong with men who have to get sex forceablly?
Work and garbage have n othing to do with sex and if you think they do, put yourself in the trash.
How would you like to be raped, you would for sure change your mind and make a great big deal of it.

Sex is your personal decision and if someone violates that theywill pay the price with jail. Its a violation of a woman's or man's body (yes, it is possible for a woman to rape a man). Sometimes it not violent, but sometimes the damage is soo suaver that the woman can no longer have children and sometimes it will end up in death. So yes, its a big deal for those who have gone thru the trauma of being raped. They are scared emotionally and most of all physically for the rest of their life. They will never forget about it, and constantly looking over their shoulders for the person that raped them and live in a constant state of fear that it will happen to them again.

Perhaps you haven't really thought about this...
Instead of thinking about women getting raped and how you think it would feel... imagine yourself getting raped...
Can you imagine how much it would hurt to have a man force his large hard penis into your dry anal opening. And since you would be scared, your muscles will clench up, making the anal passage way even tighter. Can you imagine that pain? That violation? Knowing that no matter how hard you tried, you could not stop the violence being commited to your body.
Now think about taking out the garbage... no one if forcing you... you could walk away from that situation if you felt the need to. When being raped, there is no walking away until it is over (if you are lucky enough to be able to walk away).
