It seems we can't get over these jerks that we are dealing with. Why? Their are so many others to choose from that are probably 10 times better than the jerk we are trying to get over.

Because of many reasons. A lot of women have self esteem issues and even though they may not SAY it, or even consciously think it, they don't feel they could get (or even DESERVE) any better than that jerk. Another reason is that a lot of women think that given enough time, they can turn that jerk into a good guy. Neither of which is true, but that's society for you.

oh God, yes. It just amazes me too. That happened to me about 20 years ago. Looking back now, I know it was just lust. At the time though, I couldn't get enough of him. He was an alcoholic, and sometimes he was mean. He never hit me, it was more like stand me up and ignore me kinda things. I would say no more, but in a month I would be in his bed again. This went on for over a year. Finally, I found enough back bone to stop it for good. But, you know what, I still loved this jerk for years afterward in my heart.

What I don't get is why some women like jerks - I mean you wouldn't be friends with a jerk. It's so hypocritical.
