What about the people who grow up in isolation or in faraway lands where the teachings of christianity are unheard of? Are these people exempted somehow, since they've never had a chance to accept the christian god? Does god give them a break when they die, and judge them based on how they lived their lives? Or does god give them a chance to repent and accept him before he judges them?

How does the verse from Kings 17:26 which tells the charming story of how god sent lions to kill an undisclosed number of people in Samaria who had never heard of him affect your thoughts?

There is NO First Kings 17;26. And this is what 2 Kings says; (2 Kings 17:26) So they sent word to the king of As·syr′i·a, saying: “The nations that you have taken into exile and then settled in the cities of Sa·mar′i·a have not known the religion of the God of the land, so that he keeps sending lions among them; and, look! they are putting them to death, inasmuch as there are none knowing the religion of the God of the land.”
The teaching of a place called Hell where people are burnt is a false teaching. To be so it would have to be permanent. But Revelation 20;14 says it and death will be done away with. And what goes with death....Man's grave. So Hell is just mans's grave.

"The people you deported and resettled in the towns of Samaria do not know what the god of that country requires. He has sent lions among them, which are killing them off, because the people do not know what he requires.

The lions are animal lions, they're sinners - followers of other faiths. Sin leads to death and destruction pretty naturally. The king of Assyria sent them, not God. A once Godly nation is being plagued with sin because people are leading them astray. The passages go on to show that the king fixes the situation by sending a Godly priest to instruct the people in the correct ways to follow the Lord.

Try reading the whole chapter. it'll make more sense to you.

When they don't know they can't be held accountable, but sin will damage your life regardless. Sin hurts you now, while you're alive.

No. Not according to Canon Law.

Heaven is a multi-dimentional concept. There are also different layers of purgatory and the two limbos. Then there is the place outside of heaven.

According to Canon Law only the evil will go to hell. And even that is not permenant.

You need to look outside of the bible and learn the modern teachings of the modern church. The bible is just one simple manuscript. There is also the teachings of the saints such as Jerome, Thomas Aquanius, and others. Then there is the Treaty of Ghent and the Vatican 2 positions.

Trying to understand Christianity from just reading the bible is silly.

The concept of heaven and hell are similar to the concept of rewards and punishment and have been included in religion to discourage people from straying from righteousness which has nothing to do with One's belief.

Later specific verses were added to religion by the custodians so that they could have a stronger hold on its adherents. All this talk of non believers going to hell is just an ploy to play on the gullibility of a human mind

Ya, kinda irks you, hey? But the fact is, that Jesus told us to go into all the world to spread the gospel. So the people who are dying in the jungles without ever hearing about jesus are not going to hell because God wants them too, but becuase us Christians have let them.
There are no breaks with god, and there is no way to earn your way into heaven. We just have to believe in Jesus, and make sure those peopel in far away lands do too, or at least get the choice.

1. No, only people who reject God's gift of salvation, by choice, to go to hell.

2. There are no people in isolation/faraway islands who are unreached. If there were, people would name the places.

3. Context, my friend. I have copied the scripture for you below. God destroyed invaders in the land that He gave to Israel by using the lions. It is a warning to all nations: "Hands off Israel."

my mom is in her seventies...very devout, and that's the way her world is.
i am 40 something and have read a WHOLE lot on other religions...wiccan, buddist, hindus, taoist, zoroastrists....lemme just say i read a whole lot cuz i was going to find out the meaning of life....
here i am....i don't know the meaning of life obviously...that was my folly...but i did learn there are so many vast meanings to heaven it it hard to articulate in this small space.
i don't know much about the bible, but i can say...i have met many people from many religions that were beyond decent...heaven bound from my perspective...heaven is all encompassing...that will remain my learned belief.

christian or non christians are in the same situation, religions are made by men, imposed by men and violated by men. no one has seen the real being and nobody knows there is. religious being are extremists wether christians or non christians. human who affiliates with morality, and good deeds cannot be branded as religious or god fearing being. what they are, were self righteous being who feared to fail their fellow human in any ways. these beings are better than those who are in a religious traits. something in reverse applies to the opposite non fearing individuals. there is approximately 64% of world population which are beleivers and of religious mix. and of course only some of them are extremists. but if you think that good people go to heaven, well maybe maybe not! for the fact that no one in our planet can claim that he or she'd been there. we born and we die, to be certain of going to places of your expectations be the being of truth and selflesness. and stop calling humans of their affiliations...

Contrary to what has been said here, many Christians do not believe that all non Christians will go to hell. What we believe is that those who understand and acknowledge Jesus Christ as their savior "can" be saved and go to heaven. Those that do not know about Jesus cannot make a conscious decision to reject him and will not burn in hell.
