He listens really well except for when I try to brush him or spray flea stuff on him. Granted, he is spoiled rotten and hasn't been fixed. He's been getting agressive lately when I try to groom him. Help! I love my dog and would never want to get rid of him but I don't know what do. I mean I don't want a dog that I have to worry about biting me or someone else.

He is getting aggressive with you because he is the alpha you are not. Needs firm training.

Ok, now put a muzzle on before grooming the dog. After grooming, take off the muzzle and pet him and say he's a good dog and give him a prize (dog biscuit etc.) Do this every day even if he doesn't need brushing, just to make him get used to it. He would eventually like being groomed even if it's just for the biscuit.

Why hasn't he been fixed? Having him neutered will help with some of the aggression/hormone issues.

YOU need to be in charge, it sounds like your dog is taking the alpha position over you, and that is not a good thing. Make him sit and be groomed. Use a gentle leader (sold in any pet store) to have better control over his head (and so you don't get bit). If he's good, reward him.

If the aggression continues, find a trainer who works with dogs with aggression problems.

Best of luck.

Nueter him definetly . Groom him at least once a day. Show him your in charge. If he growls a firm no ,then continue.Maybe a muzzle would be good to.Some dogs just don't like to be touched.

Honestly the only way to fix that is to groom him often. If he gets out of line and growls or anything, hit him on his nose, two finger quick hit. pit bull mixs are a tricky breed, some are ok but others if you do not show you have power over them they act out.

Make rooming fun, and end with a "good" part. If they like to be brushed, save that for the end as a "reward". Praise him when he's good and give him a harsh "NO" when he's bad.

Kaska is right. This dog does not see you as a leader and therefore is challenging you for an authoritative position. You need to be his leader, not his buddy. He will respect you, and you will enjoy spending time with him.

Have someone tickle his prostate while you groom him. It worked for me.
