No. At age 16, yes, with parents' consent. But the parents are still legally responsible until the child is 18 (sometimes 17).

However, a 15 yr old can live with an 18 year old with parents' consent. The 18 year old must have a notarised letter from the parents, giving them the right to act as guardian. Just write or type out the letter & go to a solicitor. They will notarise it with a stamp. Should cost £5.

But you will still be legally responsible.

When I was 15 I moved out of home and my mother signed for me to move in to a flat and I started living with my 17 year old boyfriend.
You must have parental consent as you will soon be 16 it wont be long......

As the 17 year old has not reached majority (18) and the 15 year old has not reached the age of consent then I would say not. I would question the wisdom of this deal all round. believe it or not you will look back on your life when you get to 30 and kick yourself for wanting to leave a (presumably) safe environment. Let's face it, as the child in question is under 16 she can still be made a ward of court which basically means a court could put her into social services care if they thought she was in danger....

The best answer to this would be to chat to social services (though they bear the initials SS for a reason)

Legally no, the parent is still responsible for ensuring the 15 year old attends school, and therefore cannot legally give consent although they may give their blessing...

Morally no, as the legal age of consent is 16.

Practically what steps is the parent going to take if the 15 year old chooses to do so without their consent???

I don`t`think so ... parents are her legal guardians until she`s 16 . You didn`t say if the 17 yr old was male or female , if its male then thats a whole new ball game and if he has any sense he wouldn`t let her move in , he`d land himself some horrible names , i`m sure you know what i mean . My eldest daughter is 15 and she`s a madam , you know , she knows everything , has an answer for everything but at the end of the day me and her dad are bound by law to keep her safe or we could be in trouble for not caring , if something was to happen to her .. But as a parent i know what hard work the teenage girls are , i have 4 daughters !! Good luck .

Yes they can only if the parent agrees, but social services would monitor the 15yr old. You are not legally aloud to leave home until you are 17. up to then if your 15yr old tries to set up home with a bf, as a parent you have the parental right to have the child removed and taken back home via police.

No, but if she is thinking of it, WHY?? Are there reasons why she wants to leave the family home apart from wanting to be with her BF? What are the dynamics going on here?
She'll be pregnant soon if she isn't already.
16 was the age of consent in UK when I lived there.

yes. with a parents consent they can... if a teenager leaves home before the age of 16 and their parents don't want them to they have the legal right to bring them home, in some extreme cases this can still apply till the age of 18.

you are still legally a minor. you have to take living with out your parents very seriously as they will no longer be there to do your washin, cooking ironing, and worst of all pay the bills. enjoy being young and wait till your 16 where the only consent you will need is to leave the country. also it is against the law to have underage sex so i think if you moved in against your parents will they coud phone te police and cause you more hassle than to wait less than 12 months. gd luck with everything
