Shampoo is used to clean hair while conditioner treats hair. Shampoo has detergents while conditioner doesn't have. Shampoo removes dirt, grease from hair while conditioner protects hair from UV rays & gives smooth hair with fresh feeling.

Shampoo, cleanses hair, lifts dirt and film, and grease from hair.
Removes all the "****" that can way down hair and scalp build up. So with a few good washes, your hair is lighter, fluffy, and back to its clean natural state.

Conditioner, provides protection for the hair, as shampoo can strip the hair of its natural oil, conditoner steps in, and helps restore, and replinsher the hair, consider it like vegetables for your hair.

the shampoo is a surfactant, meaning that it breaks down the surface area of water so that dirt can be easily lifted off your hair. This processes leaves the hair follicles 'raised' (those little tiny scales you can see under a microscope) so what the conditioner does is polish the hair and smooth down those follicles, leaving the hair shinier and not as frizzy or rough.
