No more than 3 lbs. a week. You need to figure out how many calories your body needs to maintain your current weight, then for 1-2 lbs. a week you need to create a calorie deficit by subtracting 500 calories a day from your maintenance totals. 3 lbs. you could get away with dropping 750 calories a day from your diet, but this is only advisable if your maintenance calories are around 2300-2500 calories. Use this formula to determine what you need:
1. 655 + (4.354 x your weight in lbs.) + (4.569 x your height in inches) - (4.7 x your age)
2. Take the total from step 1 and multiply by:
1.2 - no exercise at all
1.4 - 1-3 x per week
1.6 - 4-5 x per week
1.8 - 6-7 x per week
1.9 - if you have a physically demanding job
3. Take the total from step to and multiply by 0.2, then subtract this from the total from step 2. This will give you your maintence calories.
Finally subtract 500 from the final total and you should be good to go.
Just remember, it's not how much or how little you eat, but also the quality of the food. Whole grains, fresh fruit and veggies, lean meats and low fat dairy. 2-3 liters of water a day and don't forget cardio 3-5 days a week for 30-45 minutes and strength training 2-3 days a week for 30-45 minutes. Good luck!

to lose 2 lbs per week, eat 500 calories less per day than your body needs plus get enough exercise to burn an additonal 500 calories per day. It takes 3500 calories to equal a pound so change your diet and exercise to meet those goals. Eat at least 1200 calories a day though.

cals for weight loss should depend on how much you weigh to begin with. as you lose, you can reduce cals to continue losing so you don't plateau. if you want to lose more weight a week, i would suggest adding exercise. 2 lbs. a week is healthy. it takes about 3500 cals to make a pound.
