It's funny you ask, coz many of the people in my county who are well-reputed, I know some bad things they did. Okay, so you want to know what a good reputation is?

In high school or younger, a person who does their work, has good grades, has nice friends who don't get caught doing drugs or drinking, does not get caught being mean or cruel, isn't caught being promiscuous--that is a person who might have a good reputation. To me, it is someone who is generally kind and has goals.

In college, it is the same, only they might behave even more responsibly and do a lot of good things to help their friends and other people.

In career, it is the same as college, only there are more things they are known for doing to help others.

Does this seem like what you thought?

Well regarded by people, especially those who know the person well. Sometimes they are "manufactured" by spin doctors. The important think to note is that they are like living things - very hard to nurture and grow, but easy to chop down and destroy.
