The AKC is an all breed registry...at least for the breeds that are recognized by the AKC.
The APR or Americas Pet Registry is a made up organization that will register any dog that an owner CLAIMS is pure. The registration is not worth the paper it is printed on and is only worthy of being used as toilet paper.
The AKC has been around for a long time and is a CLOSED registry...which means that only dogs whose parents are registered can be registered.

AKC=respectable

APR=FARCE

American Purebred Registry...also a farce!!!! There are a LOT of these "registries" for dogs that cannot be registered with the AKC.

Continentail Kennel Club is another crap registry.

If you cannot register your puppies with the AKC, why bother spending money on "fake" registries????????????????????

I agree Dalmation is an IDIOT!!!!! Real breeders have no use for these CRAPPY, so called registries!!!!! The AKC is all we need because our dogs have been registered since way back!!!!
They have a proven lineage!!!!!!!

OK, here's a small rundown:

AKC - I could (if I tried) register my collie as a mis-colored Belgian Terveurn with AKC (if I really tried). While AKC is a great registry from reputable breeders (not just show), it has it's holes and sometimes dogs can be registered incorrectly.

APRI is a registry that even the AKC won't accept as a "real" pedigree. This is used by puppy mills to show their "certification" that the dog is "purebred", when it's (most of the time) just falsified documentation.

APRI - don't go with it if a dog or a "breeder" is APRI certified, most likely they're a puppy mill.

AKC - best best with dogs.

You also might want to look into UKC pedigrees, the United Kennel Club, very strict, but also more honest with it.

I've never even HEARD of the APR. Whatever it is, it's a crap registry and I'd steer VERY clear of it. When looking for a Husky breeder, look for dogs that are; AKC registered, with both parents that have a CH(Champion) title. ALL genetic health testing done. Only one litter a year. Sometimes two. Mom on site. Photos of father availble if he's not with the mother. Will let you visit the kennel/house to see the living conditions of the dog.

The American Kennel Club is the most widely recognized registry service. They require all breeders to keep records on file of each dog, each breeding, each litter, etc. They also require DNA testing on frequently used sires and will do on site inspections of homes and kennels to make sure each dog is properly identified and all paperwork is in order. There is so much more, but you should visit their site. APR is America's Pet Registry. They will allow dogs to be dual registered, dogs must be identified, etc. You need to visit their site as well. There are many "junk" registeries popping up. AKC will allow a breeder to limit registration on a puppy sold so that the new owner cannot breed and register litters. This was designed to prevent pet quality overpopulation. However, APR has no limited registration. Many breeders and buyers are flocking to support these new "junk" registeries for a variety of reasons; ie: little to no paperwork, ability to register anything that isn't a pure bred, etc. What these "junk" registeries do is further pet overpopulation, further unethical breeding practices, etc. People need to get informed and beware the trap.

Both are a per registry service.
AKC Is more respected and has been around for many years. Most of your reputable breeders have their pups registered with AKC. As they are the sponsors of the dog shows and where the breeders earn their titles on the dogs.
APR or APRI is a newer registry and does not have the same reputation that AKC has. They make it easier to register dogs and less paperwork making it the better choice for puppy millers to get "papers" on a dog.
However once again these are both just a registry service and they are by no means any indication of the quality of your dog. They register litters of pups from parents who are registered.
When you register a litter they only ask how many you want to register not if the pups are blind deaf ot three legged. They only want to know how many. So if you are buying a dog buy from a reputible breeder and get some references or see other pups they have produced to see the quality of the dog and do not read to much into "papers"

Please stay away from registeries like APRI. You will see that most pet stores now do not offer AKC dogs, some do, but not most. JB Hunt trucking is one of the bigggest suppliers of puppies from puppymills to pet stores.

It's all just a matter of personal preference. We have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a person with long hair because long curly hair tends to make guys look as well girly.

AKC is the American Kennel Club. APR is the American Purebread registery. AKC is the standard for show dogs. APR is a registery database. More for breaders.

APRI is a FAKE/SCAM/CON/RIP-OFF "registry"(pardon while I PUKE!) recently made-up by **CROOKS** SOLELY to SCAM the GULLIBLE/IGNORANT into thinking they're buying a *REAL* dog!!!

RUN AWAY!!
FAST! *DON'T* look back!

PS:"Dalmation" is an IDIOT!!!!
