I'm looking for a samaller dog that doesn't shed to bad, and not a overly yappy dog. Any good suggestions? Thanks

Maltese are very most mellow & lovable "tiny" lap dogs but they are a lot of work to keep brushed, bathed & groomed. My ALL TIME favorite...the Italian Greyhound, they are the cutest sweetest, under the covers cuddliest little love bug dogs you could ask for. They require essentially NO maintenance as thier silky fine ultra short fur is always sleek and gorgeous. They don't get stinky, they don't bark much at all, they do not ever bite, they curl up into the tinest ball so that they can fit right plop on your lap...it's too cute. They are a tiny dog with a regal look and very sophisticated attitude...untill you get em to the dog park where they run like a thoroughbred and jump around all nutty, hilarious to watch them play, and really, truly graceful to watch thier muscular little glistening silky bodies run like lightening! Once you even lay eyes on one of these little babys you will be hooked forever, I promise.

I think that Pug dogs are possibly the best lap dog. They are friendly, always happy, great with kids, and not yappy. They do, however, shed a ton for a short haired dog. However, any pug owner will tell you it is a small price to pay for such a fun and loving little dog.

I have a 2 1/2 yr old pure-bred chihuahua (male) and h e's an excellent lap dog and only "yappy's" when he sits on the end of the couch and can look out and see his 12 yr old girlfriend who is a wolf-husky walk by--talk about opposities attracting!

A shih tzu. Great lap dogs, don't shed at all, provided they are clipped every 6-8 weeks, and love everybody, so they're not overly yappy. Good luck.

A Chihuahua is the ultimate lap dog. They are never far from your side, but they are yappy. A min pin is another cuddler, pretty hyper but great dogs.

Short hair chihuahuas seem to be all the rage as lap dogs..

Beware of some small dogs like Jack Russell Terriers, because usually their temperament is very hyper.

I have a pomeranian.I love this dog.Its not really a yapper unless he has to go out or your playing with him.He dosent shed much but he has long hair that has to be combed. But hes a great lap dog.Very loving. But each has a diffrent personality.Sometimes they can be irritable around kids.If you get as a pup it should be fine though.

An Australian Silky Terrier doesn't shed, and gets to be about 10-14 pounds. You don't need to keep them groomed the way the AKC recommends, which can look silly. But they are gorgeous, well mannered, smart and live long lives.

1)the pug;the one that was in the m.i.b. movies. they shed a bit, even though a short-hair dog;the solution would be to get the dog a hair cut. 2)the shar-pei;the wrinkly dog that has a one-size too big skin;they are soooo cute and adorable!!! 3)thank you inquiring;good luck dog hunting and shopping. 4)one thing, check out the dog breeders you go and see; the smaller, indepedent breeders tend to be less likely to be puppy mills(which tend to be mainly,if not only, interested in the money end of things, and not producing happy, healthy puppies).
