i do i have seen everything on here and not on purpose, even with instint messager i have seen porn and have been talked to in the wrong manner without me initiating it. i think computers should be used at school by kids, and only when they need to type or research homework in the supervision of a parent. my son's are 2.5yrs. old and 7mths old and when they get older there is no sitting on here i dont want them to learn the wrong things, instead i will be paying for them to join clubs and sports of their choice. Do you agree?

I agree with you 100% If you never introduce them to the computer other than school work they won't know anything about chat rooms or porn or anything inappropriate.I myself will have our computer in our office and the only time i let my six year old on it is when we look at noggin.com or something like that. The internet is not somewhere children need to be unless they are learning something or doing school work period.

I agree that too much screen time is a dangerous proposition for a young person this age. More importantly is not sitting the younger ones in front of a television with it's rapidly changing images. I can't prove it, but am convinced that this activity is what contributes to much of the ADD we see diagnosed today. The kids never have a chance to develop the connections in their brains that allow a longer attention span.

But if you don't want him to go crazy with a computer when he first hits college, some free time, maybe 30 min or an hour a day, in a place where you can always see over his shoulder will teach him the possibilities of the worldwide connection. His psyche is still under construction and you still have to fulfill the role of super-ego or authority, until his fully develops.

first of all computers are basically a very specially tool in all aspects. In my reference it all depends on how a person uses a computer. It could be used 4 all the right reasons as well as 4 all the wrong reasons. In the early childhood stages children learns best at play. i think the computer is a great source 4 all kids and aadults. It enables one to learn and advance their skills in many ways,a computer is a high speed electronic device that acepts data and imput works upon it as instructed so my point is that children when on the computer should always be supervised by an adultr at all times.monitor your children and allow them to go on programs such as educational and positive outlook. To your question i fully agree and accept your conditions

No! I think the computer is actually good for kids it's very educational ,All you need is parent control . I have (3) granchildren age 3,and two 6,and they use my computer and they have learn so much. It compliment what I teach them, when their in school they understand the teacher better and their ahead of the class which make them happy in school, unlike some kids that don't even want to go to school or say they hate school.

My kids play games on the net.If I come in the room and they click onto something else I make them get off.I can go back and check every site they went to.Then I keep them off of the next a week.If parents she that their child is on the computer to long they need to see what the child is doing.I go to school parent advisotory meetings and we learned what certain abbrevations mean to let the other person know that someone is in the room with you..

Hell no. 15 yrs old???? maybe ppl under 13, but 15 yrs old??, get prepared cuz your kids are not going to have a social life, no friends no girlfriends no nothing. If they are iver 13 they understand the facts and they know whats going on, they can instant message their friends if they want to, plus, if they dont learn the bad things, then someday they will learn (the bad way) and they are going to think its cool. so its better if they know sooner than later. plus in the future, there will be more 13 year olds getting pregnant, so if they dont know what could happen to them then, say hello grandkids.

No. My children, in my presence, have favorite websites they go to all the time (Disney, hasbro, funbrain, etc.) They learn so much and are very good at handling the computer. There are also blocks on the computer. They also are in several sports and activities that consume most of their time, but I see the computer as a much better down time then the TV.

I don't think computers are a good place for anyone to spend much time. The only time I'm on here is when my daughter is napping and my household chores are done. A computer is just another way to sit in front of the TV and waste time.

You need to monitor what your kids do on the computer. Check the sites they look at. Make sure they aren't chatting and stuff like that. There are alot of pedophiles out there. If your child is doing helpful research on the computer, then I see nothing wrong with that.

I agree with you 100% on this one!
Computers are a substitute for outdoor activities, kids need to be getting exercise.
By the way, too much time online is bad for anyone.
