When I was a kid and I couldn't catch a fish I was told I wasn't holding my mouth right. Where did that come from?

You mean my mom didn't make that up??!! LOL!! I thought it was her own expression, but I guess not if you and Uncle Brent knew it too!
I always assumed it was just a way to express the frustration that comes with fishing; you can do everything right, and still not catch anything, so maybe it's something as simple as you weren't holding your mouth right...maybe it was from some old tv show?

I always thought it was from my Uncle Brent, but I guess not :). Good to know I wasn't the only one who was told this when I was a kid! He also used to tell my brother that to catch fish you had to be wearing a red shirt. My brother still wears a red shirt when he fishes and he's 39!

i dont know where it started but basically its saying something you are or arent doing is keeping the fish away but its something tiny and seems insignifigant.
