What's the most appropriate way for a Brit to ask a French girl out. A simple email, a note, in person, with flowers or should I button it and not bother? She does have a fantastic smile.

Hold nothing back, just go for it. To ask her out I'd say do it in person, keep the flowers for the actual date. And try to learn a bit of French(regularly used words, dishes, etc.) before the date.
Just ask her out ASAP.

Both of you live in the same city? I don't think so! She might tell you, i'm single. Then when you met her, she is married or living with someone else!! Plus couple of kids! I do not have anything against kids, just find out everything about her!! Good luck!

Go for it bud the worst thing to do is wait and wonder or to wait for the perfect chance then before you know it it's gone she ends up with someone else.
