Subtlety - just a pleasant smile, catching his eye - asking his advice on something maybe - keep it simple, men dont go for desperation! If he reciprocates your advances and appears obliging and responsive toward you - he's into you and I think you can safely ask him out without being rejected. Alternatively, just put the thought of a date out there and let it hang - with any luck he'll end up asking you!

Through my personal experience I have to say that u have to be a very good actor to win someone's respect and later on love! You have to think before u say stupid things and u have to act intelligently... Do they ask u out and u reject? Do they imply asking u out and u push them away? What is exactly going on and u end up conveying that ur not keen at all?

I looked up Keen in Webster.com and it said it means:
pungent to the sense.

I can think of a few ways to accomplish that if you want.

Oh this is an easy one.. Just be natural. be you no pretence.. if it works then great.. if not then its simply not to be! If you need to be different to your real self to let a chap konw that you like him.. then that guy is not in tune with you so he is not the guy for you period.

when it clicks for both of you then you are off and running. failing that just tell him blokes are stupid you know!

you are best of saying. hi, i'm keen but not desperate. i would like a date but nothing more.
if you're shy you could always have it printed on a t shirt and flash it at him when he walks past

In that case, you might want to try a more direct, straightforward approach. Clearly state what you want!
