Call your Vet - they should have an after hours number. If not, phone someone like the RSPCA and ask them. Good luck!

Ditto to all of the above! You SHOULD NOT be giving prednisone to anyone - human or not - without having it prescribed! The vet will give you the proper dosage. You wouldn't want to harm your pet although your intentions are good. Prednisone is not like tylenol (which I wouldn't give just like that either). It is a heavy drug which is given for specific conditions that need follow up by a doctor. Please don't do this yourself. You could cause nerve damage, or some other problem!

This is a question that should only be answered only by your vet. None of us is sure why you're using it. Even if we knew, it would be a mistake for anyone other than your vet to give a proper dosage. Pred is not a medication to be used without knowledge. If you are using it for allergies, your vet can determine what is best for your dog. Stopping this medication suddenly can has a dangerous. It actually suppresses your dog's adrenal glands, which is why they will taper the dosage down gradually. It should never be used if your dog is on an NSAID, i.e., aspirin, Rimadyl, Deramaxx, etc.
Call your vet this morning and ask how much you should use.
Good luck!

THe vet is the only one who can tell you that. It is given at different dosages for different conditions. Sometimes it is a high dose for three days to a week or two, then tapered down over the following two to four weeks. It is not a medication that should be used long term..sometimes it had to be, but there can be serious side-effects to long term steroid usage.

This is one question that I will reply to by telling you to ask your vet. Are you trying to medicate yourself? Pred is nothing to mess around with in a dog. With a person for that matter either. A dog on pred needs to be followed by a vet. What is wrong with your dog that it requires prednisone?
