Any allergy can develop, over time, quite spontaneously. It's a simple matter of ones immune system becoming hyper-sensitized to the antigens of a particular substance, via long-term exposure. In other words, too much milk over many years may lead to lactose intolerance, although there is no definitive way of knowing when too much or too long occurs, and is not necessarily true for everyone. A latent lactose intolerance is one that is actually a fairly common latent allergy. I'm really not sure what you can do to counter the intolerance. Maybe, switch to soy milk? You'd be better off being examined by a physician to confirm that the problem is the milk and not something else, and to provide advice in dealing with it.

Being intolerant to milk has nothing to do with the toast. If you have lactose intolerance (not able to drink milk or have milk products) will cause for most cramps in the stomach and/or gas buildup. In some cases it can be quite painful and can cause one to go to the loo, but in your case you sound like you have issues with wheat and not milk. Go to your doctor to have yourself tested, and you might find out it is the toast that is the problem and not your tea!

It is probably due to lactose (sugar of the milk) because we have the enzyme (lactase) that can digest it when we are young. After a certain age this enzyme is not produced anymore (or in too low amounts). This doesn't concern all the adults. I am not concerned but being 30 I have to admit that I digest milk much less better that ten years before. I stopped milk and then I have gone on drinking it after few months, it went better. Another possibility is to drink soya milk and people also put enzyme inside their milk to help digest it.

It could be the wheat in the toast, but if you are sure it is not, then I will say that lactose intolerance can develop at any age. I had no issues with dairy until my mid-twenties. Now, I can have small amounts of cheese or icecream but ABSOLUTELY NO milk. It's not a pretty thing.

I am lactose intolerant, when I got pregnant it started. It can be inherited, can start as a result of being ill (some illnesses cause the body to suddenly stop producing the enzyme needed to break down the lactose, such as the flu) also cystic fibrosis can cause a sudden adult onset. In some cases bowel surgery can also cause it. There are several OTC medications that can help such as Lactaid. There is no cure for it unfortunately you are stuck with it.

Cheaper than going to a doctor is to go buy generic lactaid or enzymes to aid in digesting lactose. If thes help, then you have become lactosr intolerant. Most humans used to develop lactose intolerance at a younger age, but now most of us don't. It is one of those inherited tendencies.
If could be a wheat intolerance. Wheat allergies can develop over the years and usually manifest themselves as IBS type symptoms in the 30's.

As we age, we sometimes develop allergies to things that didn't bother us before. Years of exposure can make the body build up antigens which attack the substance & bring about symptoms of allergic reaction. Do other dairy products cause these symptoms also? If not, it may be that you're allergic to something else you ate. If so, then maybe you are lactose intolerant. Go to the doctor ASAP and get a proper diagnosis.

It may actually be an intolerance to the wheat or white bread combination with toast and do you use margarine? Could verywell be the margerin. I found I had the same problem and it was the margerine. I use butter. Food combinations can be toxic. By them selves are not bad. Try eating just the toast and water. the next day try just milk and yogurt.. for lunch just a fruit by itself and etc. different items by themselves.

I have a question. Are you Asian? If so you have a gene I think which gives you "lactose intolerance" I have a similar problem myself. I was able to drink milk until like 20 years old, now I can't drink milk at all. If I drink any more than one glass, it gets really dirty in my pants.
** Try eating other forms of milk such as cheese or yogurt. I hope your ok from these other stuffs, let me know.

Could be that you have always had a lactose intolerance and have just not realized it, and now it becoming more evident over time. Try cutting all lactose out of your diet such as diary products for a month and see how your are. There may be other side effects such as lethargy as well, but has not been noticed.
Try consulting your doctor and he may refer you to a dietitian or likewise
