Here JT, let me correct that.....
"There are no FALSE prophecies in the bible. How could they be false?"

You have to understand, JT has a funny way of witnessing. He has read the Bible and in doing so, is intelligent enough to know that there ARE prophecies in it. He is a closet christian working on coming out against his old atheist friends wishes.

A true prophecy in the bible that was spoken by a true Prophet has never failed one time, of course there is still some prophecies yet to be fulfilled, But if a false prophet gives a prophecy, & the bible does mention false prophets, then they will not come to pass, True a few false prophets have prophcied & just a very few has came to pass, why, because the devil can also know the future.

There are many fullfilled prophesis... Cyrus the king of babylon said to return Israel to Jerusalem after the captivity and named before he was born as only one example and many many stunning prophesies. Since the Bible is true in many of these cases we can trust it where we cannot check.

There were no prophesies proven false per se
and the problem will be that "it aint over till its over" and there is more yet to come

but there are paradoxical prophesies... just as there are apparent contradicitions which are explainable... an example?

one example of a paradoxical prophsy is that God would judge the Edomites (descended from Essau) they are spoken against in Nahum... The Herods are in fact Edomites and Herod the great ruled the land in the days Jesus was born and appears to thrive... and in the days of Herod Jesus was born.

it is paradoxical because in the eyes of the world Herod ruled
but ultimately and where it will coulnt in the end Jesus rules and His kingdom shall have no end

In the end like Joshua said "not a word will fall to the ground" that God has sloken

There are no prophecies in the bible, so how could they be true or false?

Response to below comment directed at me:

There are no prophecies in the bible.

A prophecy is specific and has only one meaning.

Example: At 10:00 am, CST, on July 1, 2007, Bob Smith, currently residing at 1000 Elm Street, Anytown, USA will suffer a fatal heart attack.

What is called prophecy in the bible is incomprehensible gibberish and is not prophecy.

I am an atheist because I read the bible and recognize it for what it is: total nonsense.

no, the editors took out the false ones before they got into the Bible.

But some of Revelation looks like a hot candidate for false wouldn't you say? All that stuff about a third of the earth getting burnt up and so on.

To my understanding, all the prophecies have yet to be fullfilled. They are mostly, if not all, concerned with the end of the world and armageddon and all that, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

No one can say there is a false prophecy. Maybe its time for fulfillment has not yet come. [grin]

Can we change this to 'has it ever been proven true'? I mean they are all so full of ambiguity that it depends on your own interpretation and your faith.
