The requirement, the only one, to be considered atheist, is to not have a belief in God. That's it. An atheist could believe in ghosts, Santa, or even a six foot purple beetle that flies around spitting on us when it rains.

So, technically, they could believe in a devil or a demon as long as that being is not a god. However, you will be quite hard pressed to find an atheist that does believe in such a thing. Most atheists got to be atheists through rationality, which does not encompass the supernatural.

No atheists do not believe in the devil. Atheists believe in no spiritual guidance or higher power of any kind. An atheist beleives he/she controls thier own destiny and thier life will end here on earth that there is no heaven or hell. An atheist above all else has faith and belief in themselves. I am atheist and i have been called a devil worshipper i have been told i will go to hell. These statements have no bearing on me. This would be like me telling a christian to go to never never land they don't beleive in it and they would think it was silly. That is unless they do beleive in never never land and i'm not talking about Michael Jackson's ranch i'd probably rather go to hell. lol

No, we do not believe in the devil, nor in God. It's not to say most of us has not been in church especially when younger and can understand why some people need to cling to the idea of a greater being. But in reality, there are none to us.

And rather than asking this question, you could have just read it about a couple dozen or so times in answers in the past. It's been asked so many times now.

Atheists do not believe in the devil. They believe in the Golden Rule. Treat Christians the way they deserve to be treated.

neither exists without the other.good has no foundation without evil.if the devil exist then surely God exist. I always say that if an evil spirit shows up in my room then for sure i am calling on God and all the angels because if the devil and his fallen angels are here i know God isn't far away.

No we don't, but i would be interested in hearing his side of the story in the fairy tale. He can't be all that much worse than Bible God.

"I have no special regard for Satan; but I can at least claim that I have no prejudice against him. It may even be that I lean a little his way, on account of his not having a fair show. All religions issue bibles against him, and say the most injurious things about him, but we never hear his side. We have none but evidence for the prosecution and yet we have rendered the verdict. - Mark Twain

The devil / Satan is a made-up scapegoat. All evil on Earth comes from man himself. The problem is most men don't have the nads to admit it. So they invented someone / thing to blame things on... If god was "all powerful " would'nt the smart thing to do would be to zap satan off the planet ?
