the bible does say fear not those who kill the body, but fear Him who destroys the soul. if i remember correctly without getting my bible i believe it is also in the old testement maybe in proverbs so there is definetely wisdom and truth behind that verse. i think it is human nature to have fear but now that we live in the Spirit of God we need not fear man but truly fear God himself for this is also respect for his authority. i wouldn't really call that person a coward just not knowing how to trust God in his protection. Love drives out all fear. also a verse from the bible. suppose the secure christian know there place and inheritance in heaven so that would also be a comfort. but of course it still would be frightening if we were confronted by a life threatening situation.

Fear is a snare of the Devil. This causes many to run from Gods protection because of Fear. The final Judgement is Gods. But like Peter one can turn their weakness into their strength. Peter is fine example of getting over the fear of men. Liars cowards and those not willing to confess Jesus will not see life. You also proved a point that the soul is not immortal but mortal. It can die. Great question

Coleen,
I have looked at the set of questions you have posted this morning, and it is obvious you have something going on - or that you have done - that is causing you a lot of pain and concern.

Sounds like you may also have some decisions to make about what to do to correct the situation.

I am going to advise you to call your pastor (priest, minister) or some other trained spiritual helper, and have a talk with them. They are required by law to keep anything you tell them secret. But they may be able to help you work through this situation and to give you some more specific spiritual advice.

You will be in my prayers today...

The word there "fear" means "respect". Rev 21:8, if you/re a coward towards accepting Jesus as your Savior, and instead respect man and his theories, you will go to Hell.

It is said that everything humans do revolves around fear.
Because the body can be easily damaged. We worry that
someone will get our job. That we won't be able to care for
ourselves and our family. That there won't be enough for
the future.
Even our behavior reflects this fear. The criticizing, making
fun, bullying. All these things are humans trying to protect
themselves from getting hurt.
So don't feel left out.

DO NOT fear those who can kill the body, but fear Him who destroys BOTH body and soul.

I do not remember exactly where in the Bible it came from, but it is true that we ought not fear man, but fear God. For fear of God is the root of all wisdom - so says the Bible.

Look, if a gunman aims at me directly, I'm going to be afraid. That's a natural God-given automatic response, which I can't change.

Scripture is talking here about spiritual matters. It just means, essentially, follow in God's way and not man's way - the latter of course is also Satan's way.

fearing man would prevent relationships and understanding each other much more difficult as men need to work together for the betterment of all of mankind which means a certain amount of pure trust. as for fearing THE DEITY one needs only fear the WRATH OF THE DEITY NOT THE DEITY THEMSELVES for THE DEITY are a SYMBOL OF LOVE and no one need fear LOVE.

You are correct. Sometimes when the Bible says fear God, it means respect Gog. The Bible says we haven't been given the spirit of fear, but have been given a sound mind.. .
