Reasons to stay:
-Civil war: US forces are doing their best at quelling the violence between Shiites, Sunnis, and rivalries within those sects
-Regional instability: Iran is a Shiite controlled and populated (at 89%) nation. They are already charged with supporting insurgents with weapons, would they stay neutral if US forces pulled out? And take a look at the countries that border Iran...not good.
-Terrorism: The war has produced an unfortunate amount of angry Iraqis and extremists that sneek into Iraq that may use Iraq as a haven for their devious activities.
-American soft power: The rest of the world is already angry with the US over its actions, undermining our power throughout the world. Leaving Iraq in a state in which it cannot possibly survive won't help.
-A new plan: Ideas about splitting Iraq into 3 semi-autonomous regions seems promising, and is provided for in the Iraqi constitution to boot.

Reasons to Leave:
-advanced weaponry: The failure of US forces to secure the border opens Iraq to weapons smuggling. In light of the success of Hesbollah in utilizing anti-tank weapons, which are not yet common in Iraq, the US has reason to fear. Tanks provide an advantage heavily relied upon in Iraq; without them casualties will skyrocket.
-troop losses: A little touchy-feely, but it's hard to get past. I've personally had a hard time with my friends that have come back- I have yet to lose one of them, but they're all having a hard time adjusting. If you've never talked to an Iraqi veteran, ask them a couple questions and look in their eyes- they've been through a lot.
-pointlessness: It may be hard to admit, but things aren't getting any better. Will leaving troops in Iraq do anything but prolong the inevitable?
-Troop engagement: If they're in Iraq, they can't be anywhere else. With the developing Iranian problem, this should be cause for major concern for Americans. It's not that we need to use military force against Iran, it's that Iran's knowledge that we can't currently wage a war against them undermines our diplomatic power.

Our persevering with presence in Iraq is unfavorable our national secure practices by making use of weakening our military and Marine Corps (sturdy adult males leaving whilst they might have in any different case stayed; diminished standards for clean enlistees) and hurting our credibility with different international locations besides because of the fact the financial expenses and the impossibility o responding to a 0.33 international concern.

No I don't think they should just leave. They should quit trying to police the streets and let the Iraqi's do themselves. If they can't do it then so be it. I think it would take about 6 mos to completely move out of Iraq. Afghanistan we should stay the course and rid the country of the Taliban.

I think they should stay for the same reasons that the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard should stay. Because we're not finished doing our job.
