Im using ghd's and john freida's range, including serum, etc. But when i straigten my hair it goes really straight but after a couple of hours it starts to flick out and go kinky, etc. This even happens inside the house. How can i stop or prevent this? thanks.

serum contains some oily substances...so i wouldnt recommend it. after u wash ur hair towel dry it and rub in some L'oreal Straight hot cream..its a pink bottle. then dry ur hair with the hair dryer and a brush....then straighten it. it should stay the same. you better put a bit of hair spray to hold it. hair spray locks the little cells that contain moisture n the hair...so this way it will stray straight!

maybe ur hair type is oil, so u could use oil free shampoos and conditioners

hope this helps :)

I have the very same problem which I think I may have solved after years of trying!!

Start with a good cut (with layers) and don't let it get any longer than shoulder length if possible.

Use a hair dye (the same colour as your own if you don't want a change) as the chemicals strip off all the cr*p that's built up through styling (not necessarily the advice you'll get from a hairdresser tho!!).

Use good quality shampoo and conditioner (I use Dead Sea Magik and the serum is great) and wrap your hair in a plastic bag under the towel for a bit - this helps loads.

You must use ghd's - I've tried the rest believe me. Use Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide whilst you're straightening and L'Oreal Elvive Smooth Intense serum when your done.

Finish with Fructis Style texturising wax (strong). Smooth a bit between the palms of your hands and use the same way as a serum.

It's a lot of effort but it's worth it (for me anyway). Good luck!!

Whatever you do do not cut your hair! That won't help! I've had this problem too since my hair is curly and I love to blow it out straight. I've also done those chemical relaxers to help get the "kink" out of my curls so it straightens easier ( I also don't recommend this - it damages your hair and it'll fall out)
Now after years of trying I finally got it here's my trick:
1. wash your hair with a shampoo and conditioner for either straightening or smoothing.
2. After you have washed your hair spritz some leave in conditioner.
3. Try using a blow dryer (Ionic) that is made to help keep moisture in hair. They are pretty pricey, but I have learned that the regular conair type hair dryers leave your hair frizzy and dry with or without a diffuser.
4. After you blowdry use a ceramic flat iron (small parts of hair only) the bigger the parts of hair you flat iron the frizzier it will become.
5. Smooth on a frizz or shine serum after you are done.
6. Remember that after 2 days of clean hair your hair will start to get a little oilier making it look straighter and NO FRIZZ.
Big tip my girls and I share *DIRTY IS BETTER* Sounds gross, but so true. Hair looks amazing after 2 days of not washing hey the longer the better. Also, to keep it straighter longer wrap your hair at nite with bobby pins. This is called a "doobie" split your hair down the middle and take one section and wrap it all around your head adding the other sections and have it all secured with bobby pins. Your hair will look fantastic!
Don't forget the shower cap in the shower! ;)

I have a Kodo straightener. I used to have a GHD and had the exact same problem, but it no longer exists with the Kodo straightener. With the kodo, I have found the one without the variable heat much better as it gets hotter. Also, if you don't already, even though it is very tediuous, straighten your hair in very small sections. Takes a while, but gives a better effect.

V05 smooth and straighten through wet hair and blow dry in sections, then straighten in sections. once straightened use the cool setting on your hair dryer over your hair (tip from my hairdresser) and finish with a very small amount of serum. My hair is really bad too but I do this every day and yes it takes ages but the more you do it the less time it takes honest. Its not a cure though I still have to protect myself from rain and damp air. good luck and persevere.

Hi, here are a few good tips:
*Apply some heat protection
*Apply some straightening balm to your hair (not too much)
*Straighten your hair
*Apply a very small amount of straightening balm to your hair again.
...this will leave your hair looking shiny and straight for longer! I hope this helps you.

it tends to go frizzy again when it goes moist so, sounds silly but try not to over heat - all that heat escapes out of your head as moisture and ruins your hair
also make sure you're really hydrated, if you're using straigheners all the time your hair's probably gone really dry
don't forget to get it trimmed regularly too

Maybe think about buying yourself a portable gas straighten for days out.

There are lots or "straightening balms" availible, try boots. They give you a straighter finish and also help to resist humidity which is what is causing you hair to kink.
