Take it to a service station.

Hi--So definitely you need to service your engine. If after cleaning your injector system, the problem still persist, and that if you know a little bit of mechanic, then follow those steps.

1) you clean your ignition system and adjust where necessary (Example-Spark plugs, check for cracks(Replace if necessary), clean and adjust gap, contact set(If your ignition system is classical, clean and adjust clearance(capacitor replace it if any), if your ignition system is electronic(Must be as you have injectors), then just clean the spark plugs and the inside of the ignition cap). Visually check the the spark plug cables also...if worn out, replace them..most of the time they are in cause of miss-firing)

2)Adjust your ignition timing according to your fuel and engine specification.(Make sure that your engine is well synchronized--(Main shaft with cam shaft--required skill for this part)

3)If problem still persist(Specially backfire), might be your control box which is faulty or a mechanical problem in your vales(Inlet/exhaust valves defective)--or too many carbon deposits--- situated in your overhead cylinders. Then it's high time to make a general maintenance on the engine.

Hope that these tips will help you solving your problem.

Start with a new tank of gas, add a gas dryer(something with ethanol and not methanol). If it is still missing, pull the plugs and check them for signs of burning, clean with a wire brush, regap(or buy new)and reinstall them. Check the timing while under the hood just to be safe. If it's still missing try a new set of silicone spark plug wires(replace one at a time so you don't mess up the order). So now you've spent about $50US for the parts, if it's still missing it could be a burnt piston, take it to a shop and get their best estimate for repair.

Good luck!

Sounds to me like a timing problem. Back fire is unburned fuel getting into the hot exhaust then igniting. Have you had a tune up lately? Is the serpentine belt in good shape? I think all Dodge/Chrysler products are good for about 70,000 miles. When the warranty is up, things go wrong.

How many miles do ya have on it? It can be a number of things. Also no don't take this the wrong way, but it sounds like you haven't taken the manufactures recommend service intervals. Cause if you did, you wouldn't be having this issue. Cars need regular preventative maintenance. You can't just put gas in and go.

After about 50000 miles those engines start to have problems with the ignition wires, the spark plugs have to be replaced every 30000 miles, change not only the spark plugs but the ignition wires too, the problem is felt more during acceleration.

first of all it is not the timing because the timing dosent backfire through the exhaust you need a tune up change the plugs wires cap and rotor button the problem you are having is from a plug wire either broken or burnt and it has fouled the plugs you should do a complete tune up

Miss firing takes place when the spark plug cords are not correctly connected to their respective plug. Have it checked and get it right.

first thing i would check is the wiring,,might be a loose one, plugs will mostly cause backfiring not the fuel pump,,,or your timing might be off, take it to a garage and be for sure,,
