Baby girl named Janet, after Honey's mum.

Told last night the baby is Down's Syndrome and Honey looks to be rejecting the baby as before she was told she was constantly cuddling the baby, crooning to her, etc. Now she leaves her lying in the cot.

When she told Billy she also said she had turned down all the tests they offer whilst pregnant.

The baby has Down's Syndrome which is a congenital abnormality.
Used to be called Mongolism and therefore anyone with this condition were called Mongols because of their facial features and stature. Thankfully the term is no longer in use as we have become a more tolerant and sensitive society?
Essentially there is nothing wrong with the baby and this point was made by the Midwife in Eastenders. As the genes determine who you are and what you look like, the extra chromosome that the genes carry in Down's Syndrome people determine what they are like and how they will be physically. So there is nothing wrong, the genes are doing their job. However the product is not normal in our eyes.
Down's Syndrome people achieve various levels of attainment and normally are a delight. They are simple, happy, content and will give enormous amounts of love. Wouldn't be a great world if we were all like that. We probably wouldn't have TVs, Mobile Phones or I-Pods but we would all go around happy and cuddling each other.
I realise, of course, that a young couple wouldn't wish for a Down's baby girl but at least in 15 years time instead of wondering where your petulant, stroppy, demanding teenager they will have a loving, smiling friend who will happily sit and cuddle you while you watch TV.
Incidentally, always say hello to a Down's child and try giving them a hug. Generally, their muscle tone is more relaxed than ours so a cuddle is a real experience!

Downs Syndrome. Although the show script writers are wrong. Some children born with downs do learn to read and there have been cases of them going on to become doctors and nurses. Hope that answered your question.

down syndrome is the name of the condition.

Down syndrome is a common genetic variation which usually causes delay in physical, intellectual and language development.

The exact causes of the chromosomal rearrangement and primary prevention of Down syndrome are currently unknown.

Down syndrome is one of the leading clinical causes of cognitive delay in the world - it is not related to race, nationality, religion or socio-economic status.

The incidence of Down syndrome in the United States is estimated to be 1 in every 800 - 1,000 live births.
this is information found on the net.
