No, but they are essentially accessories to murder since they do not actively call the authorities when their embryos are kiddnapped by their humans...selfish b*stards....well, at least they are not draining the social services system!

The eggs the chicken lays are not fertilized. Meaning no rooster screwed them to make a baby chicken.

They usually screen the eggs to determine if they may have gotten fertilized, those get pulled. Sometimes old cartoons depict an assembly line of eggs being drawn in front of a candle. That was the old way of screening unfertilized eggs.

If you have ever gotten an egg with a little bloody looking spot in the white, that indicates the egg HAS gotten fertilized and the screening process had failed to detect it.

You are assuming that the answer to "what came first, the chicken or the egg" is the chicken. I don't think they have much say in the matter though.

The eggs that you eat came from farmed chicken. meaning the chickens are specially bred for producing eggs.
