Correct him, but put it very simply..."That word is one that is not very nice to say. We don't want to use it." Try to find out where he got it from, but don't be surprised if it came from someone he sees frequently! When my son started swearing, I realized I couldn't correct him as long as other people in the house used the same words. We put a ban on certain words, even with guests. We were always careful with TV, but paid even more attention to what was on. It has helped. With my daughter now a pre-teen, she sees swearing as part and parcel of the language of her friends. We've switched out actics with her, saying that she should never use swears to address other people, especially when she is angry. If she gets so angry she feels she is going to say something she shouldn't, she knows she can go to her room, graba pillow and let it all go.

Remember that he is four years old and he copies everything he hears. You need to find the source of the problem because you need to stop it. Is there a family member, friend, or an important person that swears? You definitely need to correct him. If you don't he will think it is okay to say things like that. It maybe rough at first but, he will eventually stop saying those words.

Some violent parents here! Geesh! A child of four can talk and repeat what he/she hears. How good their cognitive skills are is another question. Most of the time, kids this age are still parroting. However, he/she is learning and now is the time to explain things to them in a gentle and firm way. We don't need to kick their sweet little butts. We just need to teach them that some people make wrong choices and this includes speech.

If you don't correct him then he is just going to keep saying it. Try giving him something else to say in place of the swear word.

you definitely need to correct him. Otherwise, he is going to think it is ok to swear. I wouldn't make a huge deal about it. Just explain to him that those words are bad, and he should not say them.

Teach him that it is Wrong VERY WRONG!
If you don't now he will be telling his teachers and every one else to F-U-C-K OFF or someone he shouldn't be swearing at
Teach him now while he is Young Wash his mouth out with soap
Also watch what you say around kids when they are in the room

i suggest u correct him now.. contrary to common belief, even children as young as 3 years old can understand if u will take the time to explain it to them. .. however the best way to teach is still by example, meaning even if you tell your child its bad to swear yet he can hear you swear then you will just cause confusion in his young mind...

ABSOLUTELY correct him each & every time he does it. My 2 year old nephrew cusses and it has caused my sister lots of embarrasment out in public. He only does it with her and he wouldn't DARE do it when with me because I will put foot in his lil asss and he knows it...therefore he knows the difference and he knows what he is doing. YES, I will put my foot in a 2 year olds asss. Especially if he calls me a b*tch.
