There are a few ideas about the origin of the name funny bone. One is that the weird sensation can make you laugh and cry at the same time - kinda like when you're being tickled. Another is that the ulnar nerve runs through your humerus bone (the bone in the top part of your arm).

The "funny bone" got its nickname because of that funny feeling you get after you hit it.
But your funny bone isn't actually a bone at all. Running down the inside part of your elbow is a nerve called the ulnar nerve. The ulnar nerve controls feeling in your fourth and fifth fingers. It's also one of the nerves that controls the movement of your wrist.
You get that funny feeling when the ulnar nerve is bumped against the humerus, the long bone that starts at your elbow and goes up to your shoulder. Tapping your funny bone doesn't do any damage to your elbow, arm, or ulnar nerve. But it sure feels strange!

Actually its not the funny bone that you hit. It's the radial or ulnar nerve that causes that tingling sensation

because there is a nerve that runs through the joint in your elbow that, if struck a certain way, sends a shock up your arm. the upper arm bone is therefore called the humerus

As others have said its a play on it's real name.
But contrary to what others have said it does NOT make you laugh when you bang it.
Although everyone else has a good giggle at you crying with pain!

'cause when it's touched, everything becomes very, very funny? Like, if somebody touches you huring (broken) bone, everything starts hurting.

Have you ever banged it!!! (I don't mean THAT kind of bang...) It makes you laugh/cry in that really strange way that you can't decide if it's funny or excruciating.
