Ever since I can remember, I've dreamt about trains. In a way that trains are very intimidating to me.

For instance, it's often that in these dreams I end up walking along on the tracks, I hear a train coming after me, but I manage to escape onto the platform.

There's usually a lot of travelling involved. Sometimes I'm late getting to the destination, sometimes I end up at the wrong destination. Sometimes I actually have to catch the train to places I wouldn't normally catch the train to (for example, going from place to place in the same town).

It's very weird.. Does this symbolise the journey of life? Can anyone help?

Wow.. It kinda makes sense now..

I'm having a hard time at work (it's a placement, so It's an area I really want to work in), but I seem to be overlooked because a co-workers work is overshadowing mine (we both do graphic design and started at the same time).

Thanks!

I've always somehow been intimidated by trains.. It's ever since I saw a video at Primary School warning about the dangers of playing on tracks..

A kid got his foot stuck on the tracks and lost his legs.. pretty scary.

You feel like something bigger than you can handle is coming in your direction and you are afraid it is someday going to consume you...but you have at least enough confidence in you to overcome it..so don't worry..that object that is somehow bothering you...is going to surface and you will win..but I don't think it has one thing to do with the actual trains..I love trains, don't you?

Trains travel in a predetermined direction on carefully arranged tracks. We use expressions such as "fast track" and "mommy track" in our daily communication. To be on a track generally means that we are following a structured road to our goal destination. The direction and stops have already been planned. As the track supports and guides the train, you may be receiving help and support from life as you travel toward your goal.

Were you traveling first class in a luxury car? Perhaps you're enjoying the ride! Was the train rickety and squeaky and sluggish? Perhaps you feel like you'll never get to your destination.

Were you waiting for a train? You may be waiting for a certain opportunity to come along. Did you miss your train? You may fear missing an opportunity, or wish that you had made an easier choice. Did you miss your stop? Maybe you feel that you missed something, or that you're resistant to completing things in their natural order. Have you been cutting corners? Your dream could also be a message that the place you missed was one you weren't supposed to be in anyway and that you're exactly where you should be right now.

If the train crashed or de-railed, you may be worried about reaching your goal. Being hit or run over by a train could be your unconscious' way of showing you a fear or anxiety, or a message to be more cautious in waking life. Are you trying to "beat" a fast moving train coming down the tracks? Don't do it. As evidenced by the number of people killed this way every year, it rarely works. If you're trying to beat an oncoming, inevitable disaster in waking life, there may be a more sensible way to de-rail it.

Take a look at where you are going and where you want to go in waking life. In your dream journal, write the dream as though it were happening right now. What situation can you compare it to? Are you comfortable there, or have you "de-railed" on the way to your goal? Remember that our unconscious shows us our hopes and fears in our dreams, and that it wants to give us the answers and guidance we seek. All we have to do is listen.

Train
dream interpretation
meaning of dream
This dream symbol can be very complicated and its meaning is specific to the dreamer (as all dream symbols are). If you normally take the train to work and it is a part of your daily xperience, closer attention should be paid to the other details of the dream. Going on a train ride may be symbolic of your life's journey. If you are the engineer, you may be reassuring yourself in the dream state that you are in control of a specific situation or life in general. The train could also be symbolic of your need to move on and to do things in an orderly and sequential manner. Freud said that the train is usually a phallic symbol and that a train going through a tunnel represents intercourse. Freud also said that there are other possibilities to this symbol. For example if you missed the train in your dream, you may be fearful of missing important opportunities. Jung thought that the train ride represented the way a person moves and behaves just like everyone else and that you the dreamer may be striving for wholeness.
