the path covers most of the south downs but not sure if you are allowed to cycle it

Yes, but I wouldn't bother. One of the most boring paths in the UK.

Yes you can. According to the website: 'Assuming you are used to off road cycling then 2 or 3 days will be about right. It is possible to do it in a day but that’s an extreme challenge! There’s about 10,000ft (3000m) of climb as well as the 100 miles (160km) of distance.'

Yes, but use a mountain bike. Much better to cycle it than walk it, and on your way say hello to Lewes, I was born their.
