The best thing for sit ups is more sit ups. Once you get your body use to them, they will seem second nature. Work up to five sets of 20 reps each day and you'll pass the APFT with no problem.

You need to do crunches with you legs raise on to a chair or setee and your bum pressed up to the settee. Do 30 of these 5 days a week for 2 weeks even if you have to rest between reps. Once you've mastered these you'll P**S normal situps. AlsoTry leg raises to strengthen your lower abs. I can do 200 situps non stop on an incline board, so it works for me!

may be what you ate that day, how long its been since you ate. My advice would be to do excersise everyday, cause like one person said, your abs recover faster than anyother muscle......You have to do 17 in a min, so when you excersise do sets of 17 no matter how long it takes you, itll get your body use to doing the number of sit-up, if you do 9 in a min and quit then youll never make it to 17 in a min, as you do more and more sets your stamia will built up and youll be able to do them faster. Just be glad you didnt pick the Marines, we have to do 100 in 2min :)

Keep doing the sit ups. Try different angles and another way is to lie flat on your back, and lift your legs slowly, ankles together, hold for a few moments and lower them slowly again. This works different areas of your stomach.

You build endurance over time, but don't overtax yourself or this will happen.
