Well if you can't just come out and say it spill some gossip in the area and wait for a return on how he feels about it just let it be known that you think hes a good guy not some hottie your ready to jump that away you'll get a real answer not him just wanting some action ! And don't tell it to 20 people down the line maybe a close friend so your words don't get to mixed ,,and it doesn't become a she said he said thing! Or you could make him brownies every guy like dessert! lol jk..

I wouldn't go with just a smile simply because some people smile at everyone.
If you're a girl trying to hint to a guy that's a little tricky cause you wanna balance not coming off desperate. I'd say ask him for help with something and let him play knight in shining armor. Basically "alone time' will give him the signal somewhat and body language etc comes into play as well.

Hey Danielle, you're 16 so I imagine this is all new to you. I hope you're not sitting around with your mates this time trying to get a rise out of us! The best way is always straight forward honesty. He'll respect you for that and know yo have some guts. So just calmly and demurely tell him! Of course it always helps to have one or two stiff drinks beforehand for a little Dutch courage, not that I'm encouraging a minor to drink of course!

Ok here goes.
Get ballons with 'I like you' written all over em. I'd say about 500.
Blow em up and put em in the front room.
Put pictures of the person up all over said room.
Strip down and write 'i'm all yours' over yourself in paint
When they walk into the room keep yelling there name over and over. The louder you get the more they will understand.
There you go. Done deal. Good luck.
Oh by the way if that don't work, just tell them. I believe thats a good way too....................

It kinda depends on the situation. Do you think that this guy likes you? Do you work together? (that one can make it quite tricky). Bottom line is that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain - if this guy is mature enough and he isnt interested in a relationship he will propose that you are friends and tell you how flattered he is - you can live with that cant you???

Honesty is the best policy as my mum used to say. Better to get things out in the open, then you can either move forward or find someone new. Good luck

dont do anything cheesy. just go up to him and tell him. dont do it infront of any one. and just say its ok if u dont feel the same, i just thought u should know kinda thing. if he likes u hell tell ya. and if not well theres nothin u can do about it. rather tell him and find out how he feels, than not tell him and b wondering for ever or even worse seein him get with ur best mate!

99.9% of guys are overjoyed to hear a woman likes them...any woman!..or is that just me??
Anyway just tell them, if they don't have the same feelings it ain't the end of the world. Guys don't tend to find this stuff awkward.
nb. if you ain't talking about a guy I have little advice to give
