Look for a trigger!
I found my trigger by accident last week.
After suffering with sever headaches three to seven days a week for 11 years, I have found that artificial sweetners are the cause. I am not sure which one it is, but I have had no headache for almost two weeks now since cutting out artificial sweetners.
Unless there is an underlying medical problem, the headaches could be caused by a trigger either in your diet, or your environment or in some cases an odour. Stress can also cause headache, known as tension headaches.
As for pain relief, I found that 16mg codein + 200 mg paracetamol helped the most. If it still hurt like crazy, I would also take ibuprufen as well.
I assume your doctor was as helpful to you as to me! *sigh*

Try minimising on the caffeine intake, if at all have take it out of your life for good. Chocolate and cheese unbelievable are also foods that give off headaches too.
Often reoccurring headaches or migraines can be to do with ear, nose and eye problems. Have you thought about getting your eyes tested? Have you had a cold or blocked ear recently?
Then, again - no doubt stress can be a heavy factor of headaches. Take up a relaxation class such as yoga to detox away those stressful moments. Something therapeutic can solve your little mind worries.
If this don't work, then go see your GP.

If you have had particularly bad headaches several times a week for the last 5 years, and regular paracetamol or ibuprofen don't get rid of them then I would advise you to see your GP, who should be able to help work out what's causing the headaches, and give you medication suitable for treating the type of headaches you suffer from.

OK well as this has been going on for 5 years it obviously isn't a serious medical problem. I suggest you try to eliminate stress from your life as much as possible, drink 8 glasses of water everyday, cut out caffine where possible and do a moderate amount of exercise. Have you tried taking Sudafed? Headaches can very commonly be caused by the sinuses. Best of luck. If this carries on please go see your GP xx

Theres a million difference causes of migraines and just as many cures. Go to ask.com and do a search and then find a specialist to go to. Look up triggers and common meds on Webmd. Also, don't take to many painkillers or you can get rebound headaches.

Try using either a hot water bottle on the effected part or a cold pack. One or the other will help.

Ask your MD about the prescription Imitrex. It is the only thing that has worked for my migraines, but your doctor will know if it's right for your type of headaches.
