I'm a Pro-Life but my Q is..
How would doctors know when the patient previously had one? I know someone who had her baby aborted 2x, and so when on the 3rd time she got pregnan & gave birth, the hospital indicated 2 abortions in the birth cert! This person never mentioned it to them. Why do you think so?

As mentioned, the histories were in the birth cert coz I saw it.
And btw, "I am not the one who had an abortion."

Abortions wouldn't be on the birth certificate. Abortion is a medical procedure and the two previous ones would be in the patient's medical records.

The place where she had the abortions could have shared her medical history with the hospital. I think it's all part of HIPAA.

And to those who think other births/deaths aren't on the birth certificate--I think this differs by state. I know for a fact in Virginia and Michigan they have the number of previous births on the birth certificate, near the mother's name.

Maybe, but I think they can tell if your cervix has been dialated. They can tell if you have never had a vaginal delivery as well. Don't worry about it, they are doctors and have no right to judge you when it is perfectly legal to do this. It is an ethical matter not a matter that a doctor should be concerned with. Actually it is important that they know about it in regards to your health. If you have problems down the road, without your complete medical history in order to make the decisions about your health for you not them. good luck

i'm sorry but i dont believe that abortions were on the birth certificate at all{only still birth /neonatal death after 20weeks and living child/siblings are on there
{the only place that would have been would be on her health/medical history under all pregnancys}
in australia you must be past 20weeks when you lose a baby to have it recorded with a birht certifcate etc
i lost a baby boy at 19weeks and i still couldnt have a birth/c he wont be on any records at all except our own and under "history of all pregnancys}
