The best advice I can give is being honest and straight forward.
Guys are not good at reading 'between the lines', that's why ambiguity never works with them.
Tell him how you feel EXACTLY, be nice, and don't play word games.

Talk to him. In person, not on the phone. You must talk to your boyfriend or it will be a very short relationship. Trust and communication are MOST important in relationships.
