Somewhat confused...went to Rhyl in autumn 2004 to see an old friend who had retired (returning to Wales, where he was brought up). It is a fair old place, but every second person we bumped into either in the town, or on the beach were young men either from Merseyside, or Manchester, waiting ever so patiently to offload pills of every sort for holidaymakers (whatever their age), with wads of dinero in their expensive-jeans pockets.
Obviously Rhyl has become that sort of town at certain periods of the year, right now - but its atmosphere of late has nothing to do with it being in Wales...it's the young English boys who perhaps are well known by the police in the Lancashire resort.
Blackpool wins hands down, but as I wrote...the aura of fun there is more from the actions of the authorities (police and council) then anything else.

Im originally from Rhyl but I would not recommend it at all, its a dirty seagull ridden town, with alcoholics around the town hall and train station shouting obscenities at everything and everyone.
The clubs are full of people who think they own the town and will think nothing of smashing a glass in your face and beating you half to death, avoid Rhyl like the plague.

Blackpool all the way for me!!!!!
