when I was growing up, I played allot of sports and never had any pains in either knee, they were fine untill about 35,, now a little pain. Doesn't sound normal at all. I'de say stop the sports untill you see a doctor, don't want to do any dammage, if there is a problem.

Yes a friend's son of ours had leg pains and that's what they thought he had (Growing pain's) but on examination the doctor decided to take a biopsy and I'm afraid that they diagnosed Hod kins Desease he was 14 years old and succumbed to it. So it's good you have him seeing the doctor, but dont worry the chances are very high it's growing pains as you say! I hope I haven't alarmed you but it pays to be careful! Bless you.

Most likely it is Growing pains. Usually it doesn't hurt that bad, but since he does sports too, that doesn't help. Try giving him a baby aspirin. The 80mg ones, before going to bed. If that doesn't help, you should definitely consult a doctor.

You should take him to see a sports therapist. It may be growing pains, but if it's not, it could be something more serious, in which case doing nothing could make it worse.
You don't want the little guy needing a cane at 20 do you?

Take him to the doc. There's some condition.. I won't even attempt to spell it, anyway.. it can occur in kids. My ex bf had it and got it when he was younger. I've also had very bad knees since I was about 12. The earlier you get him in, the more likely to control this problem and prevent it from getting worse!

my friends 12 yr old son needed orthotics for the same thing due to a small curvature in his legs as he grew. lie him down on his stomach with his feet pointing away from his body so that his legs are parallel, then draw a straight line down both legs from mid thigh to his heel. if these lines are not parallel when he stands back up he may need an orthodic wedge fitted in his shoes which a podiatrist can arrange for you

My son has pain in his knee's due to hypermobility. He is very skinny and the muscles around the knee are not as strong as other kids. I think you are doing the right thing getting him checked. Goodluck
