Well, doctors have to follow protocol, and with any injection, the site must be sterilized first. Also, what happens if that person get s a last minute stay? Would really suck if their life gets saved then they get sick and die from an infection.

I know why they rub alcohol on your arm, but as to why your doctor is injecting you with "death serum" I would be more worried about that.
