Someone else can't give you the answers, you have to find that out on your own, and it might take years to find something that feels right to you. The only thing you can do is try to live a good life until you do find what is right. Good luck!

You are looking for infinite (god) thru finite (religion), which is arithmetically not possible. Religions will only provide you with an essence of the divine so long they talk about love and compassion. Beyond that everything in religion (things have come to such a pass) is commerce. The purpose of religion was to seek the unknown and answer inquisitiveness of the human mind. But unfortunately the custodians of religion made it a rigid order to create a cult of followers. From that moment religion lost its divinity. Hence look for the divine in the infinite. Now the infinite in this world manifests itself very subtly and should be pursued with all eagerness. The tool with which u can do is your mind (different from brain). U will find the traces of divine in compassion (when u feel others pain); this compassion will come thru love, which transcends all barriers of caste, religion, nationality etc. Look for the divine in music, which stirs Ur soul, look for it in the smile of a child or on the face of a starving human. This is just a beginning. Look for the unity of love in the world. Close Ur eyes and meditate. Activate Ur mind to answer your questions. Seek knowledge in misery and difficult situations.
Once u start doing this, rituals will appear to be meaningless.
Don’t abuse or decry anything in the world (including religion) because by being "judgmental" u are creating a concept of rights and wrongs and creating “limitations” in your approach. And what is limited (finite) will come in the way of finding infinite. Rather develop "understanding" of things, situation, and people around you and then follow what makes sense to you.
This is the first step. Once u do that, the others will follow.

If you are looking for the truth in yahoo you will woo-fully be misled. When you see the answers here some can convince you that there is no God and you will believe. There are others who can say something meaningful. So please watchout. When you talk of religion Bible that is correct I don't understand what you really want to ask for. Whatever the case buy a Holy Bible from any bookshop and start reading.
God bless you and help you find the truth about Him.

The Holy Bible is the word of God.
The best one to read is the New Jerusalem Bible.
It is from newly discovered ancient texts that have not been changed through translation over the years.
Break it down mentally....
Muslims - don't believe in the Haulocaust...
do you believe in the Haulocaust.... yes? Because most people do....
Then this religion would not be for you.
Judaism - is still waiting for the coming of Christ... do you think that with the present situation of the world today, that humanity could possibly still be waiting on the Messiah?? probably not
See, you need to educate yourselves about the religions and then deduce what you think is whack.
Eventually you'll be left with one.
Buddhism believes we can be reincarnated as a snail?? That seems kinda whack to me.
Thats how I came to Christianity.
And by Christianity I mean using the word of God from the Bible.
Not all that organized religion, gays are going to hell crap...

You can't understand god, it is out of the reach of mind and body.
First of all let me tell you that the one who is not present now a days can never help you. You will have to find a living master, even i was wondering for god but at last came to the conclusion that you must have a living master to follow, who will show you the path to meet god, and if in case you find one, just follow him after putting your mind behind. Further you can go through the following link, i think it might help:

You will get confused with some of the stuff you're reading. This question is just too big to answer here; take the Bible, this has been translated from other languages and none of them can be said to be 100% accurate.
I can help you if you wish to e-mail me; but only one or two questions at a time, please.

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." [Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, Aug. 10, 1787]
The article at http://www.infidels.org you read is very old, but you will find a mountain of more recent articles at that site which i highly recommend.

I gave up on every thing but going strictly to the bible to study every subject like soul, spirit, death, resurrection, who goes to heaven, why a new heavens and a new earth? life, sin, pray, commandments, faith, hell, hell fire, angels, God, Jesus, Michael, the prophets, how much time does the bible cover and why? and the whole works. In the mouth of two or three witnesses as Jesus had Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Paul says we have all the bible people Heb.11:1-40; 12:1,2; Then study religious beliefs ect.
I CAN TELL YOU THAT I BELIEVE THE BIBLE

You have read them all and perhaps will read others more. You cannot get the conclusion unless you experience it. See how others are lost because they have not faith. Faith is a gift which you may not have right now. It will come to you at the right moment. God sees your wandering heart and uses it later. Don't force it to come. It will just come. Some of your readers may be praying for you right now or later. Paul did not believe but he was studying while persecuting...then God used him in the moment of time.

I can understand that confusion. I am a christian myself. What religion is the bible. Not mormonism or judaism. The closest would have to be Christianity and the best denominations would have to Baptist, Pentacostal. Whatever religions goes against the bible is not of God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. Hint look up on the net keywords such as - christianity and their beliefs. Just be careful of the catholic teaching reason being they see Mary mother of Jesus as also a God like figure and they worship saints and pray to mary and the bible says nothing of the like. Jesus was baptised fully in water and the catholics just sprinkle so does the anglican. It is very biblical to be fully put in a body of water for baptism. I did go to a catholic church for may years but began to dislike their teaching and the way they looked at mary. Don't get me wrong Mother Mary was a holy lady but also a sinner just like you and me. She was just chosen by God the Father to give birth to Jesus.
