Flour, butter and milk or water.
Remember to cook the flour and butter together before adding the milk.
Salt and pepper to taste...it is pretty flavorless.

White gravy may contain milk or cream but most often it is simply meat drippings to which white flour has been added. This may also be known as country gravy or sawmill gravy. Sometimes little bits of meat are mixed into the gravy.
there are many other types of white gravy too, it depends upon the cusine.

white gravy is a delicous southern gravy best served with biscuits or poured over potatos or chicken fried steak. If you want to make it it requires frying some flour in some fat maybe 1 half cup of flour next add milk and keep stirring dont quit! If it gets too thick add a spoonful of water to it and keep stirring. It should be thick but not like rubber.Next add salt and black pepper .serve hot with biscuits bacon and eggs or lots of sausage. If you stir chunks of sausage in you have sausage gravy. This is good country cooking in the USA.You can put the gravy in a bowl and dip your biscuit in it.If you live in the USA you can go into most any restaurant in the south thats any state below Missouri and you can buy some and see if you like it.

White gravy is a very basic milk based sauce made by combining milk, white pepper, and a thickening agent such a roux. Add Parmesan cheese, and you have bechumael. Add sausage drippings and you have country gravy. It is the basis of many white sauces used in Continental cuisine.
