Our rottweiler ***** had a litter of 10 and I know there are a number of reasons why she may have killed her babies but she has now killed 4 and I am not willing to chance anymore so have been looking after the rest myself since yesterday. It was her 1st litter and she has absolutly no interest in them, when we have tried to get them together for a few moments she is ok and then she just goes for them.

It happen to one of my dogs once. I went to the vet.
He gave us what looked like a suringe with a hose at the
end. We put the hose down the pups and feed them.
Sounds harsh but it worked. Consult a Vet.

This is a super important time for these puppies - First things first - check with your vet to see if the mom needs any dietary supplements to add to her diet for support of her immune system while she is producing milk.

Some dogs do not make good moms and in this case the best thing you can do is to remove her from the puppies all together - if you don't have another female who may adopt them, then you will have to do this - after you feed the puppies their bottles - you need to take the corner of a wash cloth and wet it with cool water now you need to run that wet wash cloth against the rectums of the puppies - as soon as you start rubbing them, they should begin to urinate - the mom usually licks the babies to get them to urinate - at this young age they cannot start the pee pee process themselves, so you will have to continue to stimulate them several times per day.

You will be OK - just be sure to handle and hold the pupies a lot and to let the pupies lie on your belly and feel and listen to your heart beat through your skin on your chest and belly. You will become the alpha dog mommy and the puppies will be fine - remember to correct them the way the mom dog would - if two pups are playing to rough grab them by the scruff of the neck and make a low growling noise and give the pups a little gentle shake just enough to get their attention and they will settle down - they don't know that you don't know what you are doing so you will be Ok fine -

Be sure to handle the puppies every day - when you hold them make sure to keep their feet supported and once they pass the 2 weeks old date - you can gently tilt your hands right and left and allow the pupies body weight to shift from side to side - since this is a new experience for them - this rocking back and forth and side to side helps the puppies brains to build more new synapses junctions -

I suggest that yo keep the puppies with thier mother until they reach 12 weeks of age - You can sell them at 8 weeks but for those remaining 4 weeks between 8 to 12 weeks - have the new owners come to visit the pupies every day and for extended visits on the week-end - these four weeks are when the mom is finished weaning the puppies - the mom and the siblings will teach other bite inhibition and in general manners when playing and fighting and how to share food and drink and each other plus with the puppies getting to smell their new families for several weeks before they actually leave their mom - they adjust much more easily and quickly since they are already familiar with these new people and their smells - also when the puppies are about 10 weeks old, have the new owners bring a pupy bed and crate and some toys over for their new puppy so the puppy can get used to these items that he will take with him when he moves into his new home.

This method makes for the smoothest transitions for the new puppies into their new homes. It also shows you how dedicated the new owners will be since this arrangement for 4 weeks is a pain in the but but the dog benefits so mcu from having those extra weeks with his birth family - this really rounds out the dogs socialization skills plus when the puppy goes home at 12 weeks instead of 8 weeks the puppy is more mature and less likely to be traumatized.

Since she has no interest put the pups on a heating pad set on low with the biggest stuffed animal you can find for them to snuggle up with. It'll help some if you rub the animal all over their mother before you set it in with them.
You can then try forcing your dog to lay with them while sitting with her head in your lap petting and talking to her and handing her treats occasionally while the pups feed to make it a good experience for her.Do this every hour or so.When pups are done put them back on heating pad.
If that fails seperate them altogether and you'll have to bottle feed so go to vet for mothers milk and a couple of bottles for small animals.
Never warm the milk in microwave!
And when bottle feeding don't hold pups on their backs as you would a baby.Puppies eat naturally while on their tummies. So you're gonna have to lay each pup in turn on your chest on top of a towel so they can feel your heartbeat.Toss the end of the towel over the pup to help keep it warm and bottle feed each one. When thru you're going to have to rub their little bottoms to stimulate them to potty for a little while.
If it's at all possible you should try hard to feed at least 2 pups at a time at least every hour so they'll feel each other while feeding.Give only mothers milk until pups are about 4 weeks old. Then mix dry puppy food with the mothers milk and when food is good and mushy give to pups.

Hi my rottie had 13 pups and we helped to care for them you need to buy some formular from your local vet or go to a local animal rescue unit they can be cheaper. You need the small bottle feeder and you will find if you offer the bottle they will accept this very quickly. We fed ours every 8 hours and let mum look after them in between. We saved all the pups and mum was gratefull for the rest.

Socks and rice sound like the cheapest heating method. Just empty the socks and run them through the wash, and replace with fresh rice. It would really be best to get the pups checked out by a vet. It probably is instinctual for your chihuahua to try and help, but I would keep her away since she might step on them or smother them. Good Luck!

I had a dog that was stolen when her 5 pups were a few days old. I went to a farmer and got a small animal bottle and fed the puppies with the bottle till they were old enough to eat themselves. They all lived to a ripe old age. In fact, we kept one of the puppies and she lived to be 16.

go to the pet store ,they should have milk and syringes.you gonna have to hand feed the puppies.also talk to the vet about how to stimulate the pups to pee etc. it will be a lot of work ,because the pups will need to be fed a lot.you also need to make sure, that the puppies stay warm.good luck to you it won't be easy.

**NOW*** you know WHY everybody says **SPAY*!!!
RIGHT?? GOT IT now???

Do NOT bottle feed! TUBE THEM!!! EVERY 2 hrs,DAY *&* NIGHT!!! for at LEAST TWO wks.Use "Just Born" formula. Keep them on blanket w/HEATING PAD underneath,on LOW.Stimulate w/warm damp cloth for elimination. Prepare to LOSE more pups!
Try to pawn-off as many as you can.

Hand-reared pups ALWAYS look like crap & have problems.
