Do what my Mom did for my Dad. Put lipstick on and kiss a napkin or piece of stationary or whatever??? It will be a special kiss that you are sending just for him. It will be very personal and he'll feel as though a part of you is with him. God Bless you both!

That you are breaking up with him for another man. That will either pump him up to kill other men if not kill himself first. If he doesn't kill himself and does the first thing I said, he will proabably get something for being the best because he is so angry.
No, I would say, be honest. If you love him then say you love him and if you miss him then say you miss him. Don't hold yourself back, then you won't have anything to regrate if anything do go bad. Don't worry about it too much. Write long, write offen. Love is that will keep him going. Your love is something only you can give him, in return only you can take it away from him, which is good because once he knows he has it no matter what on one can take it away from him. That is what will save him at the end, no matter what happens to him. Do it if you really do feel it. Don't lie about anything, or he will not feel it.

I'm a Nam Vet.
Spam, Saltine crackers, The Little wienies forgot the name, Cross word puzzles (easy), smoked oysters, pencils and paper.
Music you know he'd like. But most important though some would think it harsh. Tape record your voice and if your about to have a party tape it to. It will help him feel like he is a part of your life.
Add photos of the family as individuals not a group. This way as each person writes he can hang the photo in front of him and glance at it as he reads.

- a looooong hand written letter so he knows you took the time to do something nice for him
- his favorite candy or something like that
- a movie that you 2 watched together
- a cd with some of your songs

Nothing too revealing but something intimate, a reminder of what you have shared, where you have been and hopefully where you are going as a couple. Sights, sounds, and smells are valuable to a person in a place they don't really want to be.

Give him what he has been asking for. I as a guy far away from home would want some new "sexy, spicy" pictures of you. This would keep it fresh in my mind as to what is waiting for me when I finally get back. I would give him something that has a signed message from all of his friends or coworkers and pictures of them too.
Most of all send him your love....You'll find a way.

send him a copy of this (revise it if you want to)
You vs. He
Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10
minutes.
He stays up for days on end.
_________________________
You take a warm shower to help you wake up.
He goes days or weeks without running water.
__________________________
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.
He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
__________________________
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up
with your friends.
He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
__________________________
You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket. !
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
__________________________
You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.
He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
__________________________
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.
He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
__________________________
You complain about how hot it is.
He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his
brow.
__________________________
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order
wrong.
He doesn't get to eat today.
__________________________
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.
He wears the same things f or weeks, but makes sure his weapons are
clean.
__________________________
You go to the mall and get your hair redone.
He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
__________________________
You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.
He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
__________________________
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.
He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
__________________________
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.
He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
__________________________
You roll your eyes as a baby cries.
He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll
ever meet
__________________________
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.
He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and
remembers why he is fighting.
__________________________
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.
He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
__________________________
You see only what the media wants you to see.
He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
__________________________
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.
He does exactly what he is told.
__________________________
You stay at home and watch TV.
He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
__________________________
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.
He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken
by gunfire.
___________________
You sit there and judge him, saying the world is probably a worse place
because of men like him.
If only there were more men like him!

Things I put in my husband's care packages where the following:
Always include a love letter ..
pictures
favorite snacks
the indiv packets that go into water (juice/tea)
DVDs
Video games if they have Xbox or Playstation
Phone cards
batteries
A stuff animal for his bed..
Ipod is great to
when it was hot .. its great to include a cooler tie (they go around their neck to cool them down) - a little fan
when it gets cold.. get him the thermapacks (they are used for pain but give warmth)
A pillow for support when he is awake in his bed
some times silly things - I sent the whole unit water guns, water balloons, bubble guns with bubbles, footballs, frisbees, yo yos, bouncing balls)
At Holiday time I would always send decorations for the unit and those they worked with to brighten their spirits.
I went to the local school and had a class adopt my husband unit - they would send class projects and letters - always brighten their spirits
A fly swatter - They have huge bugs I swear!
If you have a web cam .. video your self special messages to him - to send to his email. Sadly my husband still has all of mine including the one that I sang his favorite song to - I need to delete that soon.
Also this is neat .. its called a cake in a jar -
Directions for cakes in a jar:
In pint size, straight-sided wide-mouth jars, put 1 cup of batter in each greased jar. Make sure to keep the rims of the jars clean. Put in preheated oven 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place jars on a cookie sheet to keep from tipping over while baking. Bake for 30 to
35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. While they are baking, have your jar lids boiling in a pan of water.
When the cake is done, take one jar out at a time (Caution! Use HEAVY oven mitts!!) and add the hot lid and screw on your jar ring, and let set and cool. It will seal as it cools. Place the jars on the counter and listen for them to "ping" as they seal. If you miss the "ping",
wait until they are completely cool and press on the top of the lid. If it doesn't move at all, it's sealed. After it cools it will pull away from the jar and when you are ready to eat, open and pop out the cake and enjoy!!
Note: Unsealed jars should be stored in the refrigerator and eaten within 2 weeks. Sealed jars may be stored with other canned food or
placed in a freezer. The cake is safe to eat as long as the jar remains vacuum-sealed and free from mold.
Beckie's notes:
Someone had posted this at some point and I had saved it and thought it was worth a file of it's own:
I find any commercial cake mix works well. Just prepare according to the directions on the box. You can probably use a litte more than a
cup of batter in each jar. A standard cake mix makes 6 pint size jars, I just divide up evenly among them. I also boil the jars a bit before I use them, probably the baking would kill any bacteria but I like to be sure! Since the jars come in 12 jar boxes I make 2 different cakes at a time, that way I can send a variety. Usually
send 3 & 3 plus canned icing.
30-35 minutes MIGHT be a little long to bake (or my oven runs hot) I check after 20-25 minutes, just test as usual (I use a piece of
uncooked spaghetti, it reaches down to the bottom of the jar well!)
After the jars have sealed I take the ring back off & put a little disc of colorful cloth on to dress up the jar & then run computer
labels telling what kind of cake it is. There are TONS of recipes on the web...lots of really good ones for gingerbread & pumpkin, &
applesauce, etc. as well as ones with liquors (Kahlua, rum, etc.) that make GREAT hostess gifts or Christmas gifts (especially dressed
up with Christmas fabric) and because they last so long you can make a bunch & just keep them on hand.
These easily last 6-12 months as long as they stay sealed!
Also go to post office to get flat rate boxes - they are free and stuff them .. you will save money on postage unless it tends to weigh hardly anything then don't bother.
Just getting a care package really means the world to him.. also don't forget to tell him thanks from us for serving.
Hugs from a Loving Mom to a Brilliant, as well as beautiful 8 year old Jared and Our Angel, Zachary (taken to soon but who will always remain in our heart) ~ Mel
