Not sure if this will help your son but if it does then pass it onto someone else in need. There is a homeopathic remedy called 'Secretin' which my son uses and a friend of mine uses for their son who has AS. Without giving an answer that sounds as though I have swallowed the Lancet the long and short of it is that children on the autistic spectrum may not naturally produce enough/any secretin. I call it 'hormone replacement therapy' for kids that need it. I can only tell you that when my son is not taking it other people notice the difference. I was called into the school to ask why there was a return to no eye contact and he wasn't focused, not on task, fidgety etc. Only then did I tell them about the Secretin and that I had run out. My friend at school used it and her son reduced the hand flapping associated with AS almost immediately. However, it is the other things that happen that I have found most interesting, my son (and my friends son too) no longer have stomach troubles, no constipation etc. They are also more likely to try different foods that they would have previously rejected on colour/look/smell/presentation. Better sleeping pattern, less swing of emotion or moods. Lots of other things have just fell into place. Yes, this could be a natural progression as they grow older or it could be that you so want something to work you almost will it to work, but it is not until you have someone else comment on the positive effects that you actually believe it. Try researching 'human Secretin' (there is a porcine one available) in the Homeopathic form and being homeopathic if it doesn't do any good it won't do any harm. Hope this is of some help to you and I wish you and your son lots of luck.

HI i am sorry to hear that your son is harder to cope with as he gets older ... I work with autistic children and know how hard and demanding they can be .... very challenging at times to say the least lol ... the only advice i can really give is ... do u have a social worker ? if not u really need to get one as they can real help you out in this area ... what kind of school does he go to ? is he more challenging in school now ? or is it just at home? if hes having problems in school i suggest u arrange a meeting with his school teachers as well as they might be able to offer u some sound advice as they obviously work in this field .... but i really recommend that u seek help from a social worker as they can arrange respite care so u can have a time out for yourself and the rest of the family as well ..... u really don't have to do it all on your own help is out there ... good luck ....

Im sorry to tell you this but as he gets older and stronger his outbursts can become a problem. Now is the best time to give this some thought so it will be emotionally dealt with incase he will have to go to some kind of group home who would know how to best handle this.

I would talk to a health visitor or a member of social services and ask them if they know of anyone who can come round and show you how to deal with his autism ,I have a downsyndrome cousin and he can be very hard to deal with sometimes and the health visitor gave my aunt a few numbers to phone in reguards to help now he goes to a special school in school holidays where he does horse riding and stuff .

National autistic society. Also, try and find a parent support group - parents who have been through it before will be able to tell you where to go and offer invaluable advice

Hopefully there are some autistic support groups in your area.

I heard there are a number of natural homeopathic breakthroughs.

If not in your area they have tons of internet support groups in Yahoo! Groups.
