I lived in AZ from 1yr old to 25yrs old HATED IT. Moved to San Diego for 7 yrs LOVED IT. Had baby, moved back to AZ July 05 to afford to buy a house. Planned on making $ on it, saving $ and in 3 years move back to SD. Housing market slowed and now we won't make much if anything. Meanwhile we want to start a business which would mean we would need to stay where we start it long term. We have more business contacts in AZ than SD. All our family is in AZ. I want to move back to SD but with a 2yr old, having doting/babysitting parents&inlaws is quite a benefit. Did I mention I hate AZ? It's so hot, baby and I can't do much outside most of the year. AZ is so boring/ugly to me as well. SD has everything I want to do. I feel homesick for SD. I can stay in my AZ house, buy condo in SD without a garage for more $ than I pay now, or go back 2 renting in SD for a couple yrs & HOPE buis does well enough to buy house there

I am so torn. Should I stay in AZ or move to SD?

What does your husband think about the idea? It's a really important decision that you both need to agree on since it sounds like it would involve pulling him away from his family as well.

I know you hate AZ, but I think you should stay there for a little while longer. With a 2 year old, free child care is an awesome thing. Having family nearby allows you and hubby to take a night off here and there to see a movie and not have to worry about baby. Plus, it's hard to measure how wonderful it is being near your family and having your child grow up with relatives nearby since family is so important. It will be more difficult to take care of your child in SD without a support network.

As you mention, it's hot in AZ, but that's a temporary thing. Winter's coming. Before summer, invest in A/C and it'll make your life a whole lot better. Boring? Take a class to meet some friends, join a church or something if you're religious, just get out and meet new people. I've lived in many places and found that it's the people that make the place, even if it's not the perfect place.

From a business perspective, you also said that you have more business contacts in AZ. That means that your business will likely have a higher probability of success if you start it up in AZ. I would suggest staying in AZ.
