Rapture is a misinterpretation of Scripture. The clear language passages dealing with eschatology indicate that everyone will immediately be raised or changed and judged. Peter says the earth and heavens will be destroyed. Scripture does not say that Jesus will return to earth, but that those living will meet him in the air and be with him.
1Co 15:50 Brothers and sisters, here is what I’m telling you. Bodies made of flesh and blood can’t share in the kingdom of God. And what dies can’t share in what never dies.
1Co 15:51 Listen! I am telling you a mystery. We will not all die. But we will all be changed.
1Co 15:52 That will happen in a flash, as quickly as you can wink an eye. It will happen when the last trumpet sounds. The trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised to live forever. And we will be changed.
1Co 15:53 Our natural bodies don’t last forever. They must be dressed with what does last forever. What dies must be dressed with what does not die.
1Co 15:54 In fact, that is going to happen. What does not last will be dressed with what lasts forever. What dies will be dressed with what does not die. Then what is written will come true. It says, “Death has been swallowed up. It has lost the battle.”
2Pe 3:7 By God’s word the heavens and earth of today are being reserved for fire. They are being kept for the day when God will judge. Then ungodly people will be destroyed.
2Pe 3:8 Dear friends, here is one thing you must not forget. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years. And a thousand years are like a day.
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow to keep his promise. He is not slow in the way some people understand it. He is patient with you. He doesn’t want anyone to be destroyed. Instead, he wants all people to turn away from their sins.
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar. Fire will destroy everything in them. God will judge the earth and everything in it.
2Pe 3:11 So everything will be destroyed. And what kind of people should you be? You should lead holy and godly lives.
... No more physical realm, no more matter, space, or time.

The Bible says that animals and humans ARE souls.
Spirit is the power of life in the body.
The changing of the church is when Jesus takes the remnant of his 'bride' to be with him, and they are changed, which means that they will instantaneously become an immortal spirit person. So the human body will disappear. 1Cor15:52, 1Thess. 4:17.
It is like the transfiguration, when Jesus body changed to another form, and then back to a human, only the chosen ones keep the immortal spirit body.
Praise Jehovah the God of the Universe!!
Hail earth's new King of the Universe Jesus!!
Welcome his wife, the Queen of the Universe!!

Please! Come on, why are you filling your kid with all of this stuff? Don't you want to train your kid to do well in school in science and math so he can have a good job, compete with other kids from around the world in the world economy, have a LIFE of experiences of LOVE and ADVENTURE and EXPERIENCES and marriage and family and world experiences?
I mean sometimes I think some crazy christians are all locked up in a loony tower.
Doesn't anyone care about reality any more? What kind of employee is your child going to be? What skills will he have to show for himself?
He's goin to hate the real world so much by the time he's an adult he'll be signing up to kill people in the army or spouting off like a rabid dog at the "liberals" ruining the world.
Lots of people out there are different - different values, different religions, different races, all loving their families, carrying around pictures of their kids, loving them deeply, all praying to different Gods.. do you really wish for those people to all go to hell? I mean would that be justice to you? Since you're right and they are wrong?
Some of them might have something to teach you about other things in life. Like how to build something or how to deal with difficult people or how to be a good spouse. Yes, these are people that have real dignity, real value, real flesh, real blood, and they live, love, wish, cry, just like you.
Sorry, this isn't really a personal attack against you, I just get really tired of all of these obscure esoteric references to people studying stuff so intricately that have nothing to do with the hard technical skills they are going to need to do well at work (i.e. accounting, science, medicine, law, etc)... People can study so much stuff but be so impractical.
It's kind of like obsessing over Dungeons and Dragons or baseball cards or similar. On some level it's satisfying, but where does it get a person?

Jesus body was transformed, no cadaver was ever found so we know it is completely gone, however when he returned to earth for that short period of time he looked different, there were still holes in his hands from the crucifixion, but his features were different.
I believe we are transformed, given a glorified body, and we know from revelation a new name.

According to 1 Corinthians 15:51ff, your very same body that you had on this earth will be transformed into a resurrection body. It will be a physical body but it will not be a natural body but a supernatural body.

Yes, we will all have new bodies and live on the earth. Heaven means where God's presence is, the New Jerusalem (symbolic!) comes down from heaven and God dwells with man (see Revelation)

Essence of God is continual, there is no beginning or end.
That's why we are here.
Tell him the ulitmate mystery of life is death.
We know not of where we came from but have faith on earth that our souls will meet again.
Mom,
there are too many religions on earth and all lead back to the one essence that is GOD.
