If so, how far would you go? Do you think it should be sold (and taxed) in liquor stores or the like?

There's always a social cost with legalization of vice that people don't consider. Some people will get addicted or there could be accidents caused by people high on marijuana.

Generally speaking, I'm against legalization but not against voting.

The only thing that compelled me to answer this question is because dreeamer86's answer is so mind-bendingly stupid. Really, pot makes you depressed? and stuff? You obviously never tried it. Name me one person who committed suicide due to marijuana consumption. Can't do it can ya? You think there will be alot of stoners causing car accidents? Oh, because we all know that there isn't any drunks who are already causing alot of accidents. Hell, if we legalized pot, the human population will be severely depleted with all the automobile accidents and mass suicides. That's sarcasm in case you didn't catch on.

It should be legalized like in Holland, they do pretty well!

Although in Britain we have so many rules and we all have that need in us because of that to push boudaries as far as we can. So if they leagalized it we would probably take full advantage and go crazy for the first while. But in the long run it would be better. Young people who want to try it could without bein targeted by dealers and bein pushed into trying harder drugs.

Marajuana, in fact the majority of narcotics, should belegalized for several reasons. First, it could be regulated and better kept out of the hands of children. Second, the criminal activity that takes place as a result of the illegal drug activity would almost disappear. Third, it could be made safer an thus less people dying from accidnetal overdoses and the chemicals being cut with things that could be more dangerous that the drug themselves (like LSD being diluted with strichnine).

As for taxing...well with the numbers of people who use now, the taxing could generate large amounts of revenue, of course with our govenment it would be used for something ridiculous...but...

So, short answer, yes...long answer, absolutely yes.

I do think it should be legalized, but realistically, I don't see this happening in my lifetime.

I think another alternative...that might be splitting hairs...is to de-criminalize it. In other words, for relatively small amounts and/or personal cultivation, have it the criminal equivalent to jaywalking.

The government loses out on a huge amount of tax revenue and control, but they get to keep their self-righteous political correctness.

The government could make a killing taxing it. They are already raking it in from booze, cigarettes, lotteries, etc. Drugs are everywhere as it is. Do we really need another legal vice?

The only reason it is illegal is because back in the 40s it was seen at an opiate. recently its been proven not to be and also its not bad for you. The only reason the government keeps it illegal is because they dont want to admit they were wrong and let all those people out of jail and clean up peoples criminal records.

In other words, Legalize that ****, mang!

No, not for public use. We have too many legal drugs as it is. However, it can be used as a medicine and some people do need it. I think it should only be available in hospitals.
