Muslims follow some hot head in the desert who had delusions of granduer...
Christians follow some Jewish guy who got himself crucified cause he pissed off some really important people...
Buddists follow a fat lazy monk who spouted off trite sayings...
Tell me, is any of this rational? I may be a little on the mental side, but I think these so-called religions are purely ways to control us.
What do you think?

The reason for the defiance is unable to let go of the practices that you are currently following. There is an inner voice in all of us including you, which tells you right from wrong. Like before stealing or even telling a lie it hurts you in the inside and you can see its effects on your body (lie detection). Its a negligable feeling but it is strong for a moment. That tells us that we are not just by chance on this planet we have been put here for some purpose.

Anybody who thinks this materialistic world is the only world they have to think again. Physical laws are followed with great accuracy here. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. But what about the emotional part of it. If we do a good or bad deed we don't get the results immidiately and some murderers get away without anybody even knowing. There should be a place where these all should be rewarded or punished.

Religions are not meant to control us from anything, its only meant for guidance. It says that what ever deeds you commit on this planet will be accordingly rewarded in the afterlife choose your path accordingly.

Now the question is actually if God really exists then why did he not send Angels or come himself for teaching us the right path? Why a human is chosen to show his way? The answer is in the question itself... Who would be a better example for you to follow somebody from your own community or a man from china who doesnot even understand your language. This why every time a human is chosen to show other humans the path to God.

Religion is not a way to control people. It requires a stricter way of life to return to God because no unclean thing can enter into the kingdom of heaven. Religion gives people a moral backing here is an example. I walk up to an ATM a little old lady pulls out 600 bucks. That 600 bucks could be mine! I am certainly stronger than the old lady. It would be near impossible to ever find me again to prosecute or arrest so why don't I do it? Becaus eit is wrong. Where did I learn it was wrong Religion. The Bible says thou shalt not steal.

You dig

I think that you are "bi polar", and a little bit anti-religion. You are on the mental side, that is for sure. To control us, for what? To not kill someone, to not rob, to not do the ten commandments.... You are just wanting to ask debatable questions and have no depth, go read about all these religions and then come back and make your statements or questions, more intelligent where people understand you a little better.

I think it's all in how you look at it. For instance, yes, Jesus was a Jew who ticked off the people in power, but that fulfilled his mission.

To the Buddist, those sayings have meanings and if you ponder those sayings, they are some good points to consider.

To the Muslims, their prophet brought them inspiration and other values.

So, it's all on how you look at the situation.

Personally, I'm happy to have belief in someone who was willing to sacrifice for me so that I could have a better life.

Great question. First of all, if I were you I would think the majority of the people, who believe in God, must know something you don't. How can all of them be wrong and you right?

I personally feel there is a God and he wants us to get to know him. God is more powerful than Satan and has revealed himself to mankind. The real question seems to be who to believe? Well, look at which religions are the largest, since God want to be revealed, and you will find the truth about God.

Good luck on your search for the truth.

Hmm... Think what you like.
A religion is only a belief, its the people who make the religion go.
If everybody telling you something is trying to control you then you better shut up, cos whatever you say is also trying to control others. You have to be confident yourself, and its ok to choose not to have a religion. Don't belittle others.

Unfortunately human beings want to believe in an upper good! Call it Muslims, Christians, Buddists, Scientologists...whatever. They want to know that someone can help them when the have problems, they feel safe. So nobody can tell them not to believe...
Maybe it's crazy, funny, stupid etc but also it can be real...You never know.....

Buddhism is a philosophy, and shouldn't be considered a religion.

Its purpose is to seek answers about one's self, one's life and to become better through that journey. The goal is to become enlightened. There is no god worship and those "sayings" aren't trite.

As for Islam and Christianity - they've got nothing on Buddhism.

Jesus did no longer GET Himself crucified, He became into crucified because of the fact God made a sacrifice to settle His wrath on human beings and took out His anger on His Son for the worldwide's sins so as that shall we be reconciled back to God and have a relationship with Him in the time of the artwork that Jesus did on the pass. Jesus did no longer must be crucified. He did it out of affection. For you.

LOL, great!!

Buddhists more like followed someone who left a family behind (or in my word, abandoned) for whatever philosophical reason to get himself losing 80 pounds while sitting under the tree. He lost his voice because he was too hungry to talk, and everyone else thought he was some incarnation of some god to survive it. As a result, cult members turn a philosophy into a religion just like Taoism and Confucianism,,,
