Fact: James Toney failed the drug test because the steroidal medication he was prescribed after he had shoulder surgery, caused a positive, the rules don't allow for any steroids in the system so he was stripped of the title he won from "The Quiet Man" John (change his nic to The Boring Man) Ruiz.
Fact: Castillo was warned when he fought Coralles in their previous encounter about him coming in over the weight limit, warned on at least 3 occasions. Should he be allowed to violate the rules? Should commissions turn and look the other way when in fact he cost the casinos, the city of Las Vegas, and so many people too numerous to list an outrageous amount of money? No I think not. Toney got stripped of the title and was put on suspension for a short period, guess that doesn't add up to a "pound of flesh" for you.

Well said Brad, Castillo came in over for the 2nd fight against Corrales and blew him away in 4 because of the extra weight advantage, so then to come in for the 3rd fight absolutely miles over the weight limit was a very cowardly act, Castillo knew it couldn't be a title fight but hoped that Corrales would let it go like he did for their 2nd fight, basically he didn't want to mix it with Chico at the same weight because he took the biggest beating of his life in the 1st fight. I used to absolutely adore Castillo's boxing before this happened, i lost a lot of respect for him for doing what he done it was a definite deliberate act he weren't even close to the limit and deserved a suspension, maybe next time he will give not only his opponent more respect but all the fans who had paid good money to see the fight a bit more respect too. I hope that when he does come back they get the 3rd fight on and Corrales kicks his *** for what he done.
And the situation with Toney was hard to prove that it was down to him, he was coming of medication for an injury which could of caused the failed test against Ruiz, so we cant really tell whether it was a deliberate act unlike Castillo's which was definitely deliberate.

Brad and Frank D are completely correct. I'm a big Castillo fan and not so much a Toney fan, I respect anyone who climbs through the ropes and risks his/her life to make a living....To make a living, that means that they are Professional Athlete's and are suppose to conduct themselves in a professional manner meaning that they are held at a higher standard than your average Joe Blow. Making the weight is a huge part of being a professional fighter, not taking steroids is a big part of being a professional fighter.
Both James and Jose' helped add to all the criticism that boxing gets, In my opinion, Castillo was more of him just not caring, his intention was never to make the weight. James was wrong in not questioning what medication he was taking.
The biggest losers here are us fans (AGAIN) the third fight would have been a dandy and James, does James really need to get bigger or stronger?

Castillo failed to make weight for two successive world title fights and that is plain silly.

Stop. Stop. Stop.
Toney was stripped of his title. That's punishment enough.
Castillo DELIBERATELY failed to make weight. Twice.
That's not only unprofessional cheating, but cowardly as well.
Castillo got what he deserved.
