30 minutes sounds relatively short, but also it sounds like a good time to start out with if you have heart problems. But when you feel stronger, you should try going for longer walks. Also make sure you eat healthy foods for nutrition because they will contribute in your energy levels and metabolism, and cut down on unhealthy stuff. Apples are a very good source of energy, so you should eat at least one a day.

Well, I'm taking an aerobic walking class at my university this semester. And we "speed walk" around campus once a week. The first week we did a mile, second week we did a mile + 1/2, next week we are doing 2 miles. I'm going on my third week and it's working good so far.

I'm not overweight (a little under actually), but I have recently started getting a little flabby around the stomach area. This has DEFINETELY gone down since I started. And I can tell I'm getting in better shape.

I don't know if this is much help to you...since it's only been a couple of weeks. But, perhaps try it - it works for me. So far. good luck!

Ya walking is better than nothing, but you must supplement it with dieting. I sometimes do a speed walk by setting the treadmill on 3.5 and incline of 6 and go for like 40 minutes. It burns around 300 Calories.

Are you really 'fat' at 60kg and 15cm in height - I doubt that.
But to answer your question, yes walking does help, jsut don't expect the results in a week! I can't run (disc problem in my back) and walking is one of the few things I can do. Go up and down hills to tone your legs and butt, hold your tummy in as you walk to stregthen those muslces, adn if you don't feel like too much of a tool, carry some weights to work the arms as well (if you are doing that, make sure that your arms don't just swing in momentum but carefully control their movement.
Hope that helps

You can excercise in a pool. That will help a lot. Walking is fantastic and if you do 3.5 mph for 30 min a day, in time you'll do great. Good luck.

You burn about 100 calories per mile. If you walk fast, you can walk four miles an hour. So, 75 minutes should do it.

If you want to walk for excercise, then your best bet is to avoid treadmills, and do some real walking.

It will provide better aerobic excercise than using a treadmill.

okay... you have to walk like you are in a hurry andneed to be somewhere quick.... the tricky part is that you need to do it for 30 minutes.... without distractions and no talking... suggestion: listen to music while you do this...
thirty minutes twice a day...remember... in order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you eat... also...food for thought:
"if you always do what you always done, you'll always get what you've always got"
"slow and steady wins the race... 1 pound at a time"
