My mind has suddenly gone completely blank as what to do.
Do you have any good suggestions what could be good for 2 boys to do with their father without the rest of the family at home.

Go out, explore, play sports together .. find a event to attend .. take the kids to a movie, dinner - why not make one day the 14 year old choice on Saturday and the next the 12 year old choice. I know we have special days here for my son .. we call them Jared's day - he gets to pick the activities. We always have a blast doing them

If you stay in an urban area, take them out to a mall. Give them some money and tell them they have to spend the day trying to avoid each other. They have to report to a rallying point every hour to compare notes. If one of you spots the other, then than person hands over some of the money. Then at the end of the session (depends on how long you can stand it), the one with the most cash treats the other. Most important, tell them to be careful and not get lost.

Try swimming if you have a friend neary by. We have a game night. Have snacks like fresh veggies and dip pull out a game like "Jenga" they have a "Surviors" game where you guess the correct way to survive a situation in real life. It's fun, but pick the ones you are familiar with, and try some new ones. Also look for websites that have free online games! Try websites like FreeArcade.com, yahooligans.yahoo.com and movie times at fandango.com.
Enjoy!

Find out what THEY want to do. Not all kids like the same activities. And if they disagree, then do what the 14 yr old likes one day, then do what the 12 yr old likes the next.

Some kind of sports or fishing or something. The most important thing is what do THEY like to do. Just ask them.
