It's illegal, but I'm sure you knew that.

most people will say it's illegal but don't know where you live so they don't know the legal age of consent where you live. That proves you are taking advice from idiots.
first off, she is still in high school and this just might be her way of being the cool kid.
2nd can you both walk into each others parents house and anounce that you are dating and still walk out standing up with out the help of EMS??
3rd for her this will be a short term relationship cause at that age many don't last longer than 6 months to a yr. so why put all this effort in something than isn't long term??
4th if your asking that question here then you really don't want to be in the relationship anyhow so do each other a favor and end it on good terms and be friends. Who knows in 3-4 yrs maybe it would work out then??

Is it wrong for a 25 yr old to go to jail for messing with a 17 yr old? why can't he wait one more year when she's legal? Then they will really see who's in love.....and a reminder, most guys will say anything to get in your pants even the L word

I'm nearly 18, last guy I dated was 27. Though 18 is the assumed age, it is not the age of consent in all states, Colorado is actually 17. (Don't get me wrong, ...I'm saving myself for marriage, but just so that it is out there, people do date quite a bit older than oneself) -- make sure the guy is not using you, you're young and can think 'love' easily, and he'd play along does he think there's a chance of getting something. Let you're parents be aware of the situation along with friends: they'll probably notice things you're blind to about the guy.
LustleBestSin is a bastard for wanting to drag people down to the low moral standing that he is at, merely to feel more comfortable with his sick thinking.

It would be different if he was no older than 19, where 19 may be adult age, but 19 is also a teen age.
With her being 17, it's just the fact she's not an adult yet, and then he's chancing on statutory.
Now, once a person's 18, then ANY age don't matter, as long as both parties are adults.

If you two are really in love do the smart thing: Be patient and wait until she turns 18. If your love is real it will be able to be "put on hold" for a year until she is of legal age. In the mean time do things within a larger group (of friends, family, etc) so that you can still see each other.

first it depends on what state u live in.there many reason or problems with this relationship.a teenager that what a 17 yr girls is don't know love they think they love because it the norm how can she related to a 25 yr man on the same level.she still thinking about the prom and hanging out with her girlfriends and you should be about your career goals in life.young girl tends to be attractive to older guys because of the father figure syndrome she will grow tired of u and u of her so it is wrong to date someone so young

Has anyone realised he could be Australian. Legal age is 16 there. To me you guys don't even have to be in love. Really you just need to like spending time together and not just use her for sex....but I doubt you are. Test the water with her folks gradually and same with her friends. Some parents find age difference a problem but really at least your not old enough to be her father! GO FOR IT its not wrong.

Yes it is. How does she know if she is in love or not...or even him for that matter. Love is a very complex emotion and most of the time one does not know what it is that they feel.
25 + 17 = go to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to jail.

8 years age difference isnt too bad compared to 10 or maybe 15. No it isnt wrong, but remember there 's still a lot of growing up to happen and people change during that time which can result in finding out where the real differences lie.

I don't see anything wrong with that. I know people that are over 10 years apart that are happily married. However, one has to think of all the differences. I mean, 17 is so young - she is definetely going to change. ALOT. Soo...it might be wise to wait.
But, who gives one person the right to stop others from being in love?
